This is the epitome of DooM!!! There are just so many kick ass levels have better gameplay than anything released after 2004. 5/5 And hell, these levels shine even more when I compare them to the hideously ugly zdoom wads full of butt ugly effects and hideous slopes and overrall bland layout modern levels have to offer. So in other words, give me Momento Mori over all this other crap that changes DooM into something it isn't. ;)

Me and my buddy beat this thing all the way through recently using Doom Legacy splitscreen. These maps are really interesting and confsuing, but very rewarding to figure out. There's the occasional game breaking crusher bug, but overall I'd say if we're adding an extra point for age then this deserves a 6 out of 5.

A classic vanilla wad that is still great today. The biggest thing going for the MM wads is the fun factor; which it has in spades. Sure it's not "perfect", but what is? Given it's time of release, and how well it stands up; this is for me a 5 star wad. -TRRobin.

An old wad, and the maps would mostly be considered outdated, but an absolute classic! More or less (along with MM2/Requiem) the AV/NDCP/CC of the 1990s, these maps would not be considered to quality as far as levels today are concerned. But at its release, this was probably the best wad ever, no doubt. It is still fun; it's worth playing, and more than just for historical value. 4/5 for today + 1 for classic status/mid-90's release = 5/5

Hardly over-rated, for a 1996 release.

The mother of all megawads, MM1 is a bit crude in comparison to modern doom maps, but still worth your time, especially considering the time of it's making, it's a pretty advanced. It does pail in comparison to requiem, though, which is a true masterpiece in my book. I kinda like it better than MM2, though, which is better looking, but a trifle boring gameplay-wise. My fav was map21. Note: It IS POSSIBLE to finish map 31 in SP, with the secret exit, watch the demos to see how! 5 stars. -TeH NeXuS

This is the worst megawad ever. I'm giving it -5/5. ... Kidding! It deserves a -20. On the Richter Scale. What in deuce does that mean?

Legendarily good, and even despite all the level authors feels very cohesive. List of contributors now looks like an honor roll of Doom greats. Romero should have given TiC a call rather than sub in TeamTNT for Final Doom.

Quote: "Bugs: None! This is quality!" Ever since I've first played this years ago, I still enjoy it. There were a lot of great maps in this set, with my personal favorite being MAP23, due to the "me Vs the world" feeling I experienced while playing it. Quite potentially one of the greatest mapsets ever made, hands down! (5 stars!)

it's a mixed bag, some levels are quite enjoyable and better than many new stuff but some others (50%) are really crappy and ugly looking (eg. the mansion and level 02 with that faggish medieval textures). older doesn't mean better, so it's a little overrated, i'll give this 3 stars for undeniable clever gameplay.

This was one of the first megawads I ever downloaded. It's still awesome even today. Memento Mori is a must-download for all Doomers. This is one of the greatest megawads ever made.

Though dated in detail, Momento Mori is still easily my favorite megawad out there in the gameplay department, and the detail is still great considering. Play it solo for a good time, coop for a real blast.

An excellent mapset. Despite some worse parts (MAP25... and what's the idea with MAP29 giving you the key to the exit right at the beginning?), this is one of the more professional-looking and better Doom mapsets. Fun, balanced, and with a good (if a tad too easy) MAP30, and an excellent soundtrack, this is a must-play.

This was one of the first megawads I've downloaded alongside MM2. There is no doubt that this plays pretty will in single player. All of the levels were well designed in this Wad. I still still play the MM series occasionly. -pc

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
