Not much I can say, other than that this is a great game. Hard as hell, and it's worth the trouble to get the full version. --Crazee Boy, 4/5

A game of epic proportions. Even though this is just the shareware and it only give a faint glimpse of the full power of what was and is the great game Strife. It still promises a lot, and the full game delivers it all and more! If you look at the underdogs it's warranted Top Dog, a lable that definitely fit this game like a glove. If you haven't played this gem lost in a myriad of cheaper FPS games of that era, you have surely missed out on one of the greatest games of all time. 5/5 -Kristus

Strife takes the Doom engine to new heights, adding new engine features such as talking to people (you can even hear their voices), buying items and upgrading your aim and health. It's deep plot and wonderful action makes this replayable over and over again. It's 1 part FPS, 1 part RPG and 1 part adventure, making this a myriad of genres. Pick up a copy of Strife if you can, you'd probably have to look on E-Bay, or look in the links section for a link to buy Strife from a reseller.

Fantastic game, one of the best things to come from the DOOM engine.

Ah Strife. Grew up in the shadow of Quake, horridly obscured by newer, flashier 3D engines. But once a game reaches 10 years of age, it stops mattering. Strife is easily the best game to use the DooM Engine, with DooM itself coming in at second. A good storyline, nice weapons, RPG elements and a free-roaming world is pretty much all you need to make something as good as this. Of course, Strife has it's own charm that's rather unmatchable. 5/5 ~Manek Iridius

This is a great game, but unfortunately the company stopped selling it long ago. Anywhere to get the fullversion *legaly* (or can it be submitted to 3dgamers legaly?). The full version of Hacx was relased as freeware by it's creators some time ago. Anyway, 5 stars.

Hands down, this game is a total classic and it's as much important as doom is, because this was perhaps the very first FPS that had many RPG and adventure elements. This started the RPG-FPS genre. On the quality side words cannot describe how awesome, creative and original this is. The only letdown is probably the fact that later in the game battles start to become too repetitive. 5/5, I wish I could rate it more. One of the best FPS ever.

Strife is the greatest game made with the Doom engine, it is more interactive and immersive than Hexen, and it doesn't even have a scripting language(Map language that is...)

Technically, Strife is not really a DooM "add- on". It may have been based on the DooM engine, but the engine was vastly expanded and it allowed for a far more immersive and interactive world. Nevertheless, I give it 5 stars. Even though we're only talking about the shareware version here.

Strife is a legend. All good Doom modders should learn from this how to make their projects Top-Quality-and this includes myself. Despite it's age it's still my fave -NMN

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
