About This File
I hate unfair death match levels. You know them- one player gets a heavy advantage early in the match, blows away the opposition and remains invincible for the rest of the match. Boring... even when it's you.
HALF A CHANCE provides limited ammo, medicals and only offers the standard armour. Weapons are available but you'll expose yourself to fire and/or have to take damage to get them. The only powerup is the shadow sphere. Any advantages a player gains are temporary and there will be a price to pay. This is a small level. It offers plenty of cover and invisible sniping locations but you won't waste a lot of time finding your opponent(s).
If you like monsters, a few imps will keep you alert. If you prefer humans only, use the -nomonsters parameter when loading Doom.
Skill levels are not implemented. Instead, they are used to vary the weapons. In Doom, levels 1 and 2 provide the shotgun and machine gun. Level 3 trades the rocket launcher for the machine gun. Levels 4 and 5 offer the shotgun and plasma rifle.
Doom II gives level 1 and 2 players both shotguns. Level 3 drops the super shotgun but brings in the machine gun. Levels 4 and 5 arm you with shotgun and rocket launcher.
In multiplayer mode the exit is cooperative; the single player exit is blocked off. One player will have to throw a switch to make a distant actual exit switch available for a second player.
It is intended that deathmatch play use -altdeath version 2 rules. A batch file is included to respawn monsters and items for single player practice.
