* How to use *
To use this wad, start doom by typing "DOOM -file gcsdeth1.wad" without the
quotes and press enter. Then select Knee-Deep in the dead at whatever
difficulty level you want. This is for single player mode.
For serial connection play via null modem.
SERSETUP -com2 -episode 1 -skill 4 -file gcsdeth1.wad
You will need to specify the appropriate number for the com parameter
and skill level. The above is for serial port 2.
For the other type of connection, see the docs. (Usual cop out!)
If you enjoy this wad, then please let me know. Feel free to send money,
a postcard, money, a note, a complaint, money, etc.
If you can't think of anything to send, try money.
If you think it sucks, then let me know too.

* Don't read below, unless you're stuck (or want/need to cheat !) *
================================================================
Please note:
I consider reading this without allowing the other player(s) to
read it, as a REAL SHIT OF A THING TO DO !
Give it a try, you can't lose!
Below is a description of the visual indicators on each level.
Also a very few somewhat cryptic hints.
E1M1 In the wooden area in the south east there is an eye in a niche
in the wall near the blue skull switch and the door at the end of
the corridor.
This eye will go dark when a player enters the maze of short
green pillars and then light up again when they are about half way
to where the eye is.
A nasty trap, especially if you have rockets. Bang. Got ya.
Just for fun, watch someone jump from the top of the waterfall.
E1M2 In the red brick building in the centre of the outside area is a
map room. The map will indicate where the other player is by
lighting the sector of the map that coresponds to the area the
other player is in. To teleport to any area, walk onto the map
section that coresponds to that area. To reset the map to all off,
walk through the tunnel in the map room. A candle on the map
indicates that you can teleport back from that area. No candle
means you will have to make your way back to the map room by walking.
It may pay to cooperate just long enough to kill the cyberdemon, as
you need to get to the switch behind him to open the door that
allows you to exit the level. The centre of the map lights when a
player is in the outside area.
The switch near the lift that allows access to the outside area
opens the door to the map room. The switch in the map room closes
the map room door. You can effectivly lock other players out of the
map room !
There is one other indicator, the small window near the lift to the
outside area lights when a player is in the room with the window you
can see from here. (Room with rocket launcher).
E1M3 In the eastern grey room with the two lifts and a tall central
pillar, the lights above the pillar will come on when a player enters
this area and go out when he leaves.
Your ears will be of help on this level, once you work it out. |;-{)>
You get to the secret level from here. The way is marked, but I'll
leave it to you to figure out how to open the door.
E1M4 Getting past that first lift can be a problem for some.
No help here. Ha.
Can't get the blue armour and plasma rifle, look for those who tried
before you. Found them, good, now what? Maybe they're not quite
dead yet.
No visual indicators of other players location.
E1M5 In the building in the central outside area, the north eastern
window lights up when a player is in the eastern / northeastern area.
The window in the north west lights when a player is in the
north / northwestern area. The central octagon brightens when a
player is in the southern area. If you get fragged by a monster then
the indicator will remain lit for that area. To reset it, enter then
exit the area.
E1M6 In the northern corridor that overlooks the central area, the dark
doorway with blue lights brightens when a player enters the northern
area through the door and darkens when he leaves by any means except
being killed by monsters.
In the southern alcove, with sargent, off the eastern corridor
overlooking the central area, there is a door. Going into this area
causes the alcove to brighten until the player leaves the area.
Close by: Can't get where you want with the blue teleporters, try
walking backwards.
In the northern area with the pillar in the red acid, there is a
switch on a pillar in the north east corner. After this is pushed,
a second cyberdemon will be called to the top of the tower when the
next shot is fired. This makes the next player to enter this area
have just a much fun as you did!
So remember, kill baddies, get goodies, press switch, exit area.
E1M7 There is a switch near a door in the extreme north east. This switch
CLOSES the door. To open the door, get the plasma rifle.
There are no visual indicators of the other players position but the
layout makes them fairly easy to find. You will need to go just about
everywhere to open all the doors that lead to the level exit.
E1M8 The final area. This area is layed out in four quadrants with a
central area. The visual player locators are the windows in the
bottom of the corners of the central area. These will brighten when
a player is in the coresponding quadrant. You MUST kill all the
barons to exit this level, but first you've got to find them. This
may require a leap of faith.
With the multiple teleporters, the right way in is the right way in.
When you need to get out, then just come straight out!
E1M9 The secret area, accessed from E1M3.
Nice simple area. Plenty of everything, if you can find it.
Exit via caves. You'll need to run fast.
There IS a plasma rifle.
There are no visual indicators but your ears will help.
(Once you know what to listen for.)
There is a rocket launcher. More fast running.
Did you find all the secrets?
