DOCUMENTATION ON THE DOOM STACKED UTILITY (DSTACKED.EXE)
DSTACKED is a utility for customizing your DOOM savegames. With this
program you can tailor the amount "goodies" a player possesses. You can
give a player any weapons, any number of rounds (up to 65,535), armor, keys,
light amplification goggles, berserk, map, radiation suit, invulnerability,
and "ghost" attributes. Weapons, rounds and invulnerability last for all
levels afterward; all other goodies have the duration of a single level.
So who cares if the nightmare setting is unfair; get stacked and kick butt!
Usage: DSTACKED <savegame> <datafile> -OR- DSTACKED -config <datafile>
The <datafile> field is optional. If it is omitted DSTACKED creates
and saves to a file called DSTACKED.DAT.
Examples:
DSTACKED -CONFIG configures the default data file
DSTACKED DOOMSAV0.DSG stacks the 1st savegame with the defaults
DSTACKED -CONFIG MYDEFS.DAT configures a user data file, MYDEFS.DAT
DSTACKED DOOMSAV0.DSG MYDEFS.DAT stacks the 1st savegame with user file
This program is shareware; if you find it useful, please give a copy to a
friend. Suggestions? Tell me what you think! I can be reached at
avarnas@eos.ncsu.edu. DOOM is a trademark of Id Software.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
1) DOOM displays only the last three digits of the number of rounds you
can carry. Thus if you carry the maximum of 65,535 the game only shows
the "535". Once you shoot down to "000" the next shot will display "999".
2) The light amplification goggles and radiation suit have individual
timers that Id sets very low (on the normal game these last only a few
minutes). If you decide to stack these goodies in your savegame the timers
are set to last a very long time. Make sure you don't pick up any additional
suits or goggles in the game. Doing so resets their timers to the low
numbers Id had designed for them originally :( .
3) Under ghost mode you can move through walls but you may not be able to
end a level. Experiment and see - I may be wrong about this one.
4) A few DSTACKED data files have been included in the DSTACKED.ZIP file.
DSTACKED.DAT is the default - it gives you all goodies except invulnerability
or ghost. KICKBUTT.DAT gives you all in DSTACKED.DAT with the addition of
invulnerability. LILSTACK.DAT gives you only a modest amount of goodies.
5) I *REALLY* would like to hear from you. I'd like to know what you think
of the program and how I can make it better. I've heard you can get many
of the same goodies if you place DOOM in GOD mode. I haven't messed with
this option, though. Write me please and tell me about it!
Happy Dooming!
