This is the worst WAD I have ever had the experience of playing. I love it.

This right here is one of the oldest joke wads ever made, and its parodies of bad map design are still relevant to this day.

Ok not going to lie, but I thought this shitpost megawad was made last year and NOT from February of 1998 which also technically predates the original Mockery wad by a few months 👀!?

The only thing I liked, (Shocker!) is that these guys are honest that this is crap, unlike those idiots that spent 34 months on TEH NEW D00M!!1ONE 0/5 -Some Soviet

Both "legendary" and "vomit" apply equally well to this, the first joke megawad. The first deliberate one, anyway.

Disappointing; mostly consists of too-small rooms with cyberdemons in, with a smattering of very large rooms with a very few monsters in (and a half-dozen "proper" puzzle-type levels, including a prototype of Congestion: 64). It's not really consistently creative enough to be engaging, going through it was like a chore.

Good funwad. Maybe a bit repetitive, but all in all it's good... I agree with the first reviewer !

BTW, FYI the ZIP file also includes a complete solution demo (plain vanilla DOOM v1.9), recorded by none other than "Dia" from Team Eternal/TeamTNT -:)

yeah well Carmack also said that doom 3 was the best game they ever made at ID, which is a gross overstatement. Classic Doom/Quake 1 have superior level design/flow/creativi ty/variety in comparison. Anyway, this is perhaps the best "crap" wad I've ever played haha. 5/5

If you found this "disappointing", you're an idiot for not reading the text file before playing.

The "music" is horrible, the maps are all wierd and seem to have been put together in 5 minutes (total), the layout and texturing of the maps is worse than if done with SLIGE... But these maps are so bad they're almost good! I mean, there are no obvious bugs -- for instance, all the maps can be completed from scratch -- like in so many maps out there that are complete crap and whose authors set a lot higher goals. Maybe it's just me, but I like playing this.. oh, wait. It's just me. --2/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
