What is it?

Doom Mini Wads is a place where you can share any type of wads or anything related to wads, but you feel it does not yet warrant a dedicated forums thread for you to maintain, etc. Examples:

  • Several previews of new textures.
  • A room to test fighting of monsters.
  • A preview of certain features for which is part of a bigger project which you do not want to reveal.
  • A small project.
  • A small wad made for the first time.
  • 1-2 monsters you personally made which can be loaded with a mapset wad.
  • Etc... etc...

 

Format of post

It must have 4 particulars:

  1. Title.
  2. Screenshots if any. Preferably inserted in the "spoiler" section.
  3. Description.
  4. Download link.

That's it!

description:

as a doom newbie, i wanted to learn how to play slaughter maps. someone in the doomworld forums suggested i make my own slaughter map, but make it very difficult but not impossible for myself to play it to improve my gaming skills faster. did just that. in the 1st hour of using [ultimate doom builder] for the 1st time, i came up with this crude simple map which focuses entirely on gameplay. my very first doom map, named "hello wad". initially intended for personal use, but i'll just share it for those who want to have some quick fun.

 

a major handicap of mine is being trapped in a small space while closely surrounded by many monsters. this tiny map depicts the situation nicely and has helped me progress in my gameplay a lot. especially by overcoming the fear and panic, staying calm, and quickly scanning from within the chaos for more leg room, medikits and other goodies.

 

since i do not know how to make a proper wall switch yet, i just left the wall full of switches as a perspicuous option. the player could either quickly make his/her way to the wall of switches and end the onslaught (par time 7 seconds), or test his/her skill by remaing in the room and decimate all the monsters before exiting the map (par time 2 minutes 20 seconds for 100% kills). game difficulty not implemented (don't know how to do it yet), but actual map difficulty is slightly hard, perhaps "hntr newbie slaughterish" since i am still very new to slaughter maps.

Description:

Here is my first map, made only last year. Before this, I had experience with source, so I wasn't new to map making. To be fair, I actually have no idea why I did this. Speed mapping is fun though. Also, I was very new to doom. Again, I had mostly played source games before this.

 

You can actually still see some elements that I keep to this day. Having elevation is still similar, but my modern maps do it better. A sky exit too, a thing that I really like doing for some reason. I also had no idea how to hide secrets, how to make fair and fun levels, and many other things. Still a good bit of history!

Title: Underground Toxicity remake (reworked)

Description: 

This is a remake or reworked of my first doom wad i've made since starting mapping. The first one was god awful, like it was so bad it made a guy's eyes bleed from all the bad textures layout. 

 

So i reworked it and made this. I've posted this around before and i've gotten some good positive feedback on it, working on the Sequel right now so that's coming around soon.

Description: First wad I ever made.  I didn't really like the SP_DUDE marble textures and the related gore decorations.  They've always looked out of place to me.  I replaced them with my own edits made from the versions found in the Jaguar port, as well as a few based on Romero's unreleased gore sprites and the tortured marine assets on Realm667.  I feel these fit the style of the rest of the gore props and textures much better. Screenshot is Doom II, but this replaces the textures in question in both Ultimate Doom and Doom II (they have slightly different sets), so you can load this wad with any IWAD.
