CHECK DAY #7 (APR 23-2023)


Hey guys!
Once again we are at the dawn of a new check day!
 

So, news...

First of all, I want to  welcome our Newcomers
@exl who not only joined us but also has already delivered an amazing map (so first and last tag on check days for you)
and @JacaCaca also has his map almost done (I just saw the new version, I'll playtest it ASAP!)
 

Also, we have another finished map, this time by @CblBOPOTKA
Thank you so much for your work!
 

For any other mapper that wants to jump into the project, there's still time till the next check day (MAY 07-2023) when we finally close the claims, So, don't miss it!


So, To have a better reference for the general progress of the CP I've decided to make a simple tracker that Will be added to the Original post.
Here it is:

And now the fifth secret in my map is done. To get it, you need to press on a small computer console in one room, which opens a door in a room directly to the south which is partially flooded. Once in there you get the red key.

Ports Tested: DSDA-Doom 0.25.4 -Complevel 9

Difficulty Settings: implemented

 

Note. 3 secrets are ready so far. But map is already playable. So it needs a little bit of testing

Hey @RastaManGames. You map is one of the completed ones indeed. The progress bar is not about the position of the entries but as a general reference. Sorry if it's confusing.

i'm sorry if this is a letdown, but i have decided that i want to step down from the project. i don't have any ideas to continue it and i feel i've been hogging the spot for way too long with barely anything to show for it. i sincerely apologize

ok...I need to vent a second...this isn't relating to my map but I have nowhere else to vent this so...



My Browser Opera closed all my tabs just because it can...this is bad because I was working on something (Like 7 days in the works) that was all lost... the whole thing meaning I'm left at square one... I even restarted my PC so I might have lost a little of my map but I just need somewhere to say that I am the most unlucky person alive.

Hey @purple_ruberoid.
That's some great stuff there, I love the visuals and fights.

I only find two problems:

Spoiler
  • The track for the door on the first image is not unpegged
  • Those windows on the second image have missing textures on medium and hard (software mode)

One more note and this is totally subjective, so, if you want to keep it the way it is right now I have no problem with that:

I'll recommend against trapping the player behind the blue bars on the blue key area. The fact that you can move freely if you can't find the secret feels a little claustrophobic.

And btw, @RED77. I have one concern: is playtime for this map ok?

It feels to me the playtime may be longer that 20 minutes if I stay on my mapping pace ... maybe not.

Yeah, it seems a little longer, but I did not find it cryptic so I think it will be no problem. But please don't make it an hour kind of map, I think we can stretch to 30/35min

Sorry for disappearing for almost a whole month. My health took a nosedive for a couple of weeks, and just when it improved, my mum got some bad news about her health, too..

But I refuse to let a bad month stop me from doing what I enjoy, there's still enough time remaining to finish off what I've got left.

I have come with a Map Update, I decided to make a Midi for my map

Song Name: I Need You
Length: (Around) 2:58
Inspirations: Freaks - Surf Curse
Instruments: Electric Guitar, Bass, Drums
Vocals: 8-bit Triangle
Guitar: Electric Guitar
Bass: Bass
Drums: Drums
Note: I tried to make the Vocals sound like they fit with the instrumentals so there is a good reason its there unlike in a lot of other songs, but a lot like Freaks surf curse, take into note this is NOT the same chord progression or song its a completely original (ish, it uses the doo-wap progression) song!

Once again! I hope you enjoy this track as I made it myself with Nostalgia in mind...no I won't add lyrics, but I think you can easily make them up.

Note: you can use these for your projects besides this.
