I love all variants of Doom, you know.

Now I'm playing TNT Evilution in DOSBox and nothing beats that feeling when you configure your virtual Gravis Ultrasound card, when you type "Doom2.exe" and then "-file" in DOS Shell (kinda, I use Volkov Commander for easier navigation), when you see various text and then you play with CRT Filters, god damn I wouldn't be lying if I told you that it makes me warmier, I'm dissolving from the reality...

This game is my guardian angel!

I don't want to make a new thread, so I'll try asking here. What is the best port to just play Doom on high resolution that still behaves likes the original Doom? I suppose this choice comes down to DSDA-Doom and Woof! (and maybe Etermity?), so which one of them is more preferable for just playing the game? Which one has the most QoL improvements?

I think I got tired of playing on Chocolate and Crispy due to low resolution, and ZDoom-based ports just don't look the same as the original. And I suppose PrBoom+ is obsolete now?

I'd recommend either dsda-doom or Nugget Doom. I think both are good in terms of quality of life, and which one is preferable comes down to which unique features (if any) you care about.

Woof has the same resolution options as Crispy Doom (2x resolution + widescreen), so if Crispy Doom is too low resolution for you, so is Woof. Nugget Doom is a fork of Woof with 4x and 8x resolution, among other features. PrBoom+ is no longer maintained but it's still perfectly usable, and there's also prboomX which is a fork of PrBoom+. IMO Eternity lags behind the others in terms of quality of life features, but it's also a viable choice.

GZDoom because it can load everything, a few config lines and you can enable all the features or keep it just like DOOM.

DSDA because it's my favorite way to play DOOM (right now, it may change).

Nugget because it's damn fun, best of all IMO in Software mode.

International because it's fun and my favorite "vanilla" port (So Doom comes close but no FOV).
