Scuba Steve Posted December 10, 2018 (edited) December 10th marks the 25 year anniversary of the game that brought us together and binds us like some wacky adhesive. With that comes the inevitable annual Doom award ceremony, The Cacowards. This might just be the most robust and thorough Cacoward ceremony in the entire 15 year history of the awards, so enjoy the mod winners, tributes, and factoids brought to you by one hell of a dedicated crew. Let the shoulda-coulda-woulda Cacoward flamewar commence! Edited December 10, 2018 by Scuba Steve 60 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jaws In Space Posted December 10, 2018 Outstanding write ups this year Cacoward crew, you've really outdone yourselves. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
DMPhobos Posted December 10, 2018 Congratulations to all the winners! Here's to this year full of great releases, and to another 25 years of Doom! 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
Snikle Posted December 10, 2018 Glad to see Struggle and Preacher in, those were probably my favorites from this year. I've only played a few of the other winners so far (I started Maskim Xul and Dimension of the Boomed but never finished them), so that means a lot of good new stuff I need to play soon. After Eviternity, of course... Fantastic writeups as always, and having full-size pictures is a real improvement. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
Not Jabba Posted December 10, 2018 Just wait until you find out how much more stuff we did for the 25th anniversary... 18 Quote Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted December 10, 2018 And to think that we haven't even published the other half of the work we did for the 25th birthday... edit: damn you @Not Jabba!! It's almost like you have earned the right to announce something at your leisure!!! 14 Quote Share this post Link to post
Uni Posted December 10, 2018 Congratulations to all the winners and the runners-up of this year and a big 'Thank You' to the Cacowards team for once again providing us with these excellent, detailed articles. I felt a small pinch right at the heart when I read about Alfonzo's departure and I too wish him good luck on his future endeavors and hope to see him around maintaining the Ironman contest for us to participate. Regardless, it's a lovely way to celebrate Doom's 25 year anniversary and I already look forward to play each and every one of these great WADs and crossing my fingers for another great and prosperous next year. Cheers! 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
pcorf Posted December 10, 2018 Some pretty amazing releases this year indeed. And btw I feel sorry for the millions of Cacodemons killed over the last 25 years and I'm sure the next 25 years will bring more BFGing action. Also this was the first year since 2000 that Pcorf did not upload a new release to idgames although he did contribute to the Mega Project 2018. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted December 10, 2018 Yay, congrats to the winners this year! There's some good stuff there indeed. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted December 10, 2018 Congrats to all the winners; thanks to anyone who made a sincere release for idtech1 this year; and props to the crew who put the cacowards together - great job! 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted December 10, 2018 Awesome job guys, I'll be looking forward to reading this in full! And congrats to the winners as well! It's another yearly reminder that I've got a lot of amazing stuff to add to my backlog. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

Fonze Posted December 10, 2018 Thanks to the folks that put their time into making this; I understand there were a lot of tough choices as well, but this was a great read and well done! 9 Quote Share this post Link to post

I was genuinely surprised that Pinchy's Alfonzone only got runner-up, but now it makes more sense. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
elend Posted December 10, 2018 Congratulations to all the winners. Outstanding maps and mods and I am especially happy to see the Exomoon Soundtrack being mentioned as well as Demonastery featured as a runner up. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
antares031 Posted December 10, 2018 Happy 25th anniversary of Doom! Congratulations to every winner and runner-up, and much appreciated for those detailed reviews of Cacowards of this year. And thank you everyone, who enjoyed my levels, and helped me to design the levels with valuable feedback comments and demo recordings. It's been a wonderful time as a part of the community of my #1 favorite video game. 19 Quote Share this post Link to post
Spie812 Posted December 10, 2018 Congratulations to the winners! My backlog of stuff to play just grew to an intimidating size. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alfonzo Posted December 10, 2018 Many thanks and big, big plaudits to the Cacowards team. I thought the last couple of years were tough with the scope of the awards continuing to grow, but 2018 was monumental even without the milestone anniversary demanding that extra something. So many big name releases! So many tantalizing snubs! Now to read all the articles and terrorize DotW, who no longer has any excuse to keep ducking his Ironman obligations. Well done. 26 Quote Share this post Link to post
Not Jabba Posted December 10, 2018 Yeah, this was seriously the most amazing year of new Doom content I've ever seen. Never mind that I also thought that last year and the year before. Huge congrats to all the winners, and all the runners-up, for making such mind-blowing stuff and making our job so hard. 14 Quote Share this post Link to post
