[GZDoom] Unfamiliar

I don't recommend use XWE, it can easily corrupt your wad beyond repair and it wasn't updated for almost 10 years. Use Slade, it received updates not so long time ago. I'll give run at some point.

Looks extremely creative. Love it. Will give it a try later. You should specify its format and what sourceports it is compatible with.

I wasn't aware that XWE wasn't being supported. Thanks for the info.

Episode 3 is underway, although I'm taking a break and will resume in February. Here's some previews of E3M1, known as the Citadel of The Antichrist:

I can't get through the first level.  I got the blue key, followed the doors which led me outside with the 6 big doors.  I killed the guys out there but nothing happens after that.  I ran all around the level 3 times and nothing.

The exit is roughly where the original E1M1 exit is. Go through the nukage room, through the explosive barrel room and then you're at the tram station (with an exit sign):

The blue card leads to optional areas that reward you with goodies to help out later in the episode and also open up shortcuts to different areas of the map.

Alright thanks.  Somehow I missed the door to the nukage room.  The level is so damn detailed and with all the doors that don't open it's easy to get lost.

 

I certainly appreciate the time spent detailing the levels but the cramped and switch hunt gameplay kills it for me.  I managed to trek through the first episode but was pretty bored with what seemed like playing the same level over and over.  I hoped ep2 would be a change of pace but it's more of the same.  Cramped and a labyrinth with dozens of dead ends.

That'll be fixed when 1.4 drops. It's not really worth playing a soon-to-be-outdated version at this stage.

 

However there is a rough 1.3.5 version on the Discord if you really want to see how things are shaping up.

Good news, 1.4 is going to be released soon! Members of the Discord server will be able to playtest 1.3.75 before the final release here. Thanks for all of the support!

Well it seems 1.4 is going to be delayed slightly since I've decided to move the .wad from Doom2 format to UDMF format. That way I'll have more tools to work with. Reworking the maps to suit the new format shouldn't take too long since all of the textures and entities have copied over without a problem.
