If you're still taking submissions, I'd like to see you tackle Jade Earth.

Also if you feel like being nostalgic, play my Techwars megawad from 2006. ;) Should take around an hour to fully beat the whole thing.

Here's the roster so far for those who are curious! Don't worry, I have some more to fall back on if I magically get through all of these.

I intend to devote the last 3-4 hours of the stream to deathmatch play. This will be about 8-9 AM Aussie time, which is 10 PM UTC Friday night.

12 hours til the event begins. Hope to see you there!

Gutted to see you never ended up with a ph_* on there, but I'm really glad to see Hoover Dam, as that's an all time classic. Best of luck!

I might have bitten off more than I can chew - after 11 hours solid of pure Doom, I had to toss in the white flag. I will get around to streaming all these wads.. just in a more practical timeframe. A HUGE thanks to everybody who participated. There’s more Doom on the horizon but for now... sleep!

Congrats on getting as far as you did with it. That's a lot of Doom!

Will you attempt to beat your 11 hour record? For a first go 11 hours is pretty good I think. :) Since I missed a lot of it, I'll run your recorded stream when I get a chance.

Shame I missed the entire thing. Good luck besting your stream-time next time! Having done that Team Rocket stream myself I know how taxing it can be. :P

Will try and catch the VODs at some point. :)

Endurance tasks can be harder than you'd expect until you've tried them. Or easier. The only way to find out is to try.

Having done some stuff of this type myself (albeit non-Doom), I can suggest the following if you want to try again:

1) Plenty of bananas. Potassium is good for endurance.

2) No stimulants. (This coming from a coffee addict!) That's because while they provide a quick pick-me-up, they aren't good for long-term endurance.

3) Make a point of looking at things at a variety of distances every so often. The varied input and focusing will help avoid eye and brain fatigue. So look at the far wall behind your computer every so often (and set it up so that wall is a fair distance away), look out of the window, etc. Do this often, not just when taking a break.

It's possible that starting with DM and some complex maps also added to the brain fatigue, and made it harder to stay in charge of your pace. I'd suggest starting with SP on some small and simple maps (maybe with heavy opposition - that probably requires more routine brain work).

Like everything, things need be done in harmony with your body.

Entertainment has the purpose to please our sences so let's try to treat it as such without sacrificing your body to it (or atleast taxing it beyond its limits).

For a sickened and waekened body even the best source of pleasure becomes a deadly poison.

So if you are still endeavoring to do this for 24 hours (and really want to do it), here's some little ideas and proposals I'd like to throw in:

* For a 24 hour run you should be allowed to take breaks, of 30 minutes each after every 1 and a half hour to 2 hours of playtime.

Food, exercise or other necessities can be performed inbetween. Then get some deep breath's for 9x to 18x every time you start going back to continue  gameplay. A body thats 75kg requires 2,5 to 3,3 liter of liquid water to function properly. Just for your brain (including the eyes and all inner organs) to function properly, they need atleast 2 liters of water. So have a cup of water or tea next to you whenever you require it (you Aussies are fond of tea anyway so that shouldn't be much trouble). If you start to feel thirsty during the day it already means your body is coming 1,5 liter of water short.

* Treat the whole thing like a big concert you are going to attend or a mix you are listening to. Just as the ear likes harmony and order (however chaotic the musical style you are listening to gets, there's always order and harmony in it). What do I mean by this? Well for example, for every 2 hours that you are intending to play, set a certain theme to the wads you will play during that time. For example 2 hours of wads with an Ancient civilizations or temples theme, followed with a 30 mins break, then followed by an hour or 2 of hellish or gothic themed wads. Another break, followed by tech-base styled stuff etc. Just like a band performing for an hour, followed by "DJ Professional Underwear Model" filling in the 30 mins gap inbetween before the next band sets up (who in turn has a more folk-ish style). While the crowd significantly thins out during the DJ's set (with only one or two hipsters left dancing), it comes back en masse for the next performance after having having some (necessary) refreshments at the bar or elsewhere.

* Arrange the wads wich you like to play as if they naturally belong to each other and feel like a logical continuation of the previous wads ending. Just like every track is set on a certain key, let's say track 1 has a Key of 2Af, then track 2 with a key of 3Am or 3C would sound like a natural continuation to it. So arrange the wads like you're key-ing individual music tracks.

In this manner you will have variety aswell as a natural sence of continuity, wich is far more pleasing to the mind.

Those are just my ideas. Good luck, and have fun.

If you're not having fun or are starting to feel drained or unwell, cancel the session outright as it won't be worth it anymore.

Thank you all for the excellent advice - I really did go in underprepared and came out with a new appreciation for long-session streamers. When/if I try it again, I’ll definitely be taking Grazza and OniriA’s advice!

24 hrs of doom is not an easy task. Focusing on the Projectiles coming from every direction and trying to commentate on top can drain the streamer. Make sure to take breaks, have ample hydration/food and sleep well before the event.

I don't know why someone has not recamend btsx 1 2 3 an sunlust an hell revealed 1 2 dark tatarus or some deathmatch wads like aeondm or the 32 an 24 wads  an all that

Because everything you just mentioned is a megawad (except for BTSX 3 which isn't done yet), save Dark Tartarus, I don't know anything about it.

Also Sunlust would be incredibly difficult to do in one sitting, the only streamer I'm aware of who did that is MrZzul.

Doing five megawads, one of which is Sunlust, would be unimaginably draining and it's for the best they were never brought up.
