vdm1337 Posted May 17, 2021 Too many unreleased. Proof-of-concept, me just fucking around, stuff I thought I would finish but never did, you name it. I have released 2 finished projects, however. They're on my page if you wanna snag 'em for a quick run. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dubbag Posted May 17, 2021 ive started WADs hundreds of times. Completed maybe 20 of them and only 10 are on idgames. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
smeghammer Posted May 17, 2021 (edited) I tinkered many many MANY years ago. Unfortunately they are all long gone (and probably shite anyway). This last year (bloody hell, how time flies in a pandemic...) I have made a dozen or so - both single and miniwads. Search for my username in the IDGames database as some are here. Arrowhead Posted May 17, 2021 Have to change my own numbers already! New numbers are 55 made, and 41 published. Just published FrantikDM today! :) 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Revae Posted May 17, 2021 I've made a lot more than are available, even to myself anymore. Many are just lost to time. That I can count, and that you can still get atm, I've made at least 50. REKKR makes up the majority of the single player maps I have available... 27 for that. I'd have to count how many maps I did for x minutes of /vr/ and hellshots etc to see how many are on idgames. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Aurelius Posted May 17, 2021 I've apparently done a total 14 maps (thanks DoomWiki), out of which 4 are speedmaps. Mostly community projects / collabs, with only a couple personal releases. There's some unfinished projects + old wads lost to time which I never finished. All of the ones I've released have been done in the past of 2 years, so I'm definitely not nearly as prolific as some of the community greats. Maybe someday I'll learn the fine art of simpler maps and have a more frequent output :P 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Salmon Posted May 17, 2021 (edited) My released maps are listed on the "About Me" section of my profile. I've completed 13ish maps, released 6, and have lots of scraps lying around. I have a map for Mayhem X mostly done and 3/5 maps more or less complete for an upcoming mapset. My other unreleased maps were either shelved for quality reasons or because I changed directions during a project. I feel like I've learned a lot in less than a year of mapping, although I've obviously got years of more learning ahead of me. I'm excited about that process, though. Alper002 Posted May 17, 2021 (edited) I barely even remember what I made before my first release. I have made quite a few spontaneous doodles that don't go anywhere that look kinda neat over my time as mapper. Kinda fun to just make those. So, here's what all of what I've completed and submitted/released so far, in vaguely chronological order...(with exception to explicit numbered speedmapping sessions) Spoiler Shoot-Switch Hell (My first ever released map, not technically my first MADE map. I've yet to feel any major regrets this one, aside from maybe the gameplay being a tiny bit grindy.) A random 30 minute speedmap made for a thread. (Just kinda there, I remember it more for how bad I felt when I was confronted on the thread by a playtester about a techbase map I never properly released) NanoHexen 2019 (The megawad I made for nanowadmo 2019, where 24 of my Hexen map count come from. I feel less satisfied with this than other things I've made, but there were a few gems in there that I'm happy to have made at least) The Freezer (together with WolfMcBeard, MAP04 of Mapwich 2. Features a lot of Ice, to the dismay of a lot of people :P) Low memory zone (for the vanilla-compatible half of the 64kb project thingy. Tried to do a split path, speedrunning it was ruined by the ability to do a practically luck-based 30-sec door line skip) Up and Down and All around (For Isolation, featuring the boom elevator specials! and elevator music!) Doomed Surface (I made this in about a day for Dark Scythe. There's just not much time you need to adjust a dead simple template into one that has all of the damaging floors and some extra other stuff!) Colon Three (Second ever self-released Doom map! It's not too tough but that's fine, the vanilla midi plays on it sets the mood nicely) Irradiated Flow (MAP02 of Modest Mapping 2. The name came after the map, which was kinda sorta vaguely inspired by the story that was written for the project) 3 maps for Deadtech (Deadtech being a community project hosted by wolfmcbeard which has yet to see release. Wonder if anyone will see the Hexen-inspired secret map I made for it lol) 2 maps for the first iteration of 3x3 (I like both of the maps I made there, they were made very quick but they turned out quite nicely. Except the final section of Dwindling Growth I guess. It was a bit mean to put down THAT in a community project in hindsight.) Overnight Apocalypse (together with the rest of my team for Hot Potato. Collaborative speedmapping in a contest our team happened to win in. Everyone else made parts of the map one after the other, and then at the end of the process I added the start and ending. Gotta say that the map that lost is pretty sweet too.) Lost Luxury(Hub with 10 maps for Hexen. Originally started for nanowadmo 2020 and then development went for waay longer than intended. One superficial thing I wish I could change would be to put in breakable pottery, I used a grand total of NONE and it's a total shame.) Moss Cushion (for 3x3 take 2. Very mossy.) Sea Trash (for MAYhem 21, which is still in progress. Take a trip to the wonderful world of vanilla textures messed up with a custom palette!) ...Which counts up to about 14 released Doom maps. If you count collaborations as half-maps. 15 if you don't. Then there's all of the speedmaps I've made for the Hellforge and Abyssal Speedmapping Sessions... I've made 2 speedmaps per session on each ASS since session 49, and since I've mapped for 5 sessions, there are 10 maps of mine from that. (#54 might not be out yet but it sure has happened!) The Hellforge speedmapping sessions have a few contributions of mine too, 9 of them, but the ones I'm most fond of are in sessions which haven't been properly released. It's made me consider the thought of maybe making a wad compiling my favourites and a few other things into one neat package... Anyhow, That totals up to about 34 submitted Doom maps, and 34 released Hexen maps. If we count maps that people can actually play there's definitely more for Hexen than for Doom, but otherwise it's completely even! Neat! Somniac Posted May 18, 2021 I've published 6 maps so far with another currently being worked on, and another done but waiting for the community project itself to be finished. I'm always working on something, just now that I've "established" myself as a somewhat competent mapper I'm a lot more comfortable getting things done at leisure and not getting excited and feeling like I have something to prove. Which works for me, as I'm pretty slow and methodical, and totally not just making it up as I go along. Honest. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think I started mapping in 1994 or 1995? I can't remember exactly, but I remember starting out with just graph paper. When I got my own computer, I used DEU and ADE (a version of DEU for Doom 2). I also took a long break in the early 2000s. EDIT: my wiki article starts with my 2010 release of One Doomed Marine. Which feels about right, as the stuff I released prior to that is no longer available online. It used to be, but I don't have the accounts for those websites anymore (I mean, does Angelfire even exist anymore?) You have 3 released Quake maps? I only found 2 at your site. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Terminus Posted May 19, 2021 (edited) Hmmm. About 50 unreleased garbage deathmatch maps I made back in 2005. Techwars - 22 maps from 2006. Techwars 2 - Finished about 9 maps, from around 2008, unreleased. Revamped Techwars - 1 map completed, unreleased. Armageddon Invasion 2 - 4 maps, one collab with wario. Circa 2009-2011. MAYhem 2012 - 1 collab map with Kongming. The Joy of Mapping 5 - One map. Mapwich 1 - 1 collab map with TollyCastle and Megablast. Mapwich 2 - 1 collab map with Remmirath. Endless Night - My own solo project currently in progress, 4 maps completed. All summed up I have about 34 maps that I've published, and an extra 61 unreleased old maps that are better off unreleased. So 95 total. Not the most exciting resume considering I've been mapping for *wipes sweat* 16 years, but hey, it's something! Edited May 19, 2021 by Terminus 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted May 19, 2021 (edited) DOOM I've made 9 maps for 1 wad. It was my attempt to create a 30 map megawad specific for Brutal Doom. Foolish me as it was my first project too. I forced myself to learn some scripting, 3D floors, adding custom content, the main GZdoom editor functionalities and custom intermissions while trying to get it all to function with a specific version of BD. I was happy with the results, especially for my first maps but it burned me out. It has been years and I still don't have motivation to map. DOOM 2016 SNAPMAP I've made 1 map I really liked. I would totally make another one if Doom Eternal adds it. Edited May 19, 2021 by Chezza 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
KeaganDunn Posted May 19, 2021 (edited) https://kdj73883.wixsite.com/keagandunn/doom This adds up to about 36 released maps over the course of 11 months, if you count the progression-stopping "credits" maps in First Blood, Bloodbath, and Detrimental. 41 if you also count some scrapped levels that I do have up somewhere on DW. I've had too much time on my hands... Edited May 19, 2021 by Dunn & Dunn 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
purist Posted May 19, 2021 https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Chris_Bourke_(purist) Only 36 released maps according to my Wiki page when totalling up released stuff. Going back to 2004 that is a pretty slow work rate! Including unreleased maps I'd estimate I am up to 62 and I am hoping most of those will be released one day. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

I have no idea what the URLs were. I don't even know what username I had back then. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Death Bear Posted May 20, 2021 I’m a noob who first got an unfinished-and-in-need-of-work map out for NanoWADMo 2020, along with 12 unfinished or unpolished maps for a personal project, and about 20 more maps I’ve started. I have four maps from PUSS sessions that I’ve gone over time on, and will likely be reworked into something else. Currently “released”, I have 20, if you count my Speed Squared maps. 15 for Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping. 3 for 3x3/ 3x3: Take Two. 1 for Skulltiverse. 1 for “Doom 1 from Memory”. Have another PUSS speedmap, and a map for WMC02: Thy Flesh Vored on the way shortly. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

Well, it’s a bit out of date, but here it is: I think my current tally of maps would be at.. I want to say about 230 now? That’s released maps, there’s been a few scrapped over the years and the ~20ish maps I made from 01-03 are forever lost. The fact that you’re already in the 50s is impressive! Dude, the fact that you had any impact on Eviternity is awesome, sorry I didn't even notice this until now. I'm still working through it between working on Sunlust and actually building maps... So I'm slow haha I'll have to check out more of your work, the work done on Eviternity is so impressive (not just because of the tex-pack either thank god) I seriously would pay $3 - 5 for it just out of respect. If I wasn't insanely broke... but yeah. I might need to get in on some of those speedmapping sessions just for practice too. Even if stuff doesn't get released, it would still help to just force me to create something new rather than tweak something old. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rook Posted May 20, 2021 I was delighted when I found out fairly recently that I have a Doom wiki page. When Sucker Punch 2 goes up on idgames, I will have 20 maps on the archive which is a nice milestone. Since 2015 I've got in and out of mapping, but I have a sense that I may stick around this time. We'll see. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
MattFright Posted May 20, 2021 I might as well be known for just showing off all of my vaporware, heh. I started mapping around june(? maybe a bit earlier? i don't remember) last year, have made 8-ish maps and released none. Only thing i "released" so far was a submission to PRCP2 (which is yet to be released) and now i'm kinda clueless as to where to follow it up from there...probably to finish my DMP 2021 submission since i've been in a hiatus for that for a few month now :P 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
KubaloBlackMT Posted May 20, 2021 1 It was for a community project called "Half Moon" which was a 30 minute map thing. It's in part 2 and is called "Pueblo". I am a newer member though of course and I'm making another map for the Doom Maximum Project 2021, and it looks waaaaay better, like I mean it's a playable, well designed and textured map. I have standards and Pueblo did not reach my seal of sexiness. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
