Map Making Tips

cklasick

Question

Okay, im not that expericed in Doom Builder 2, so I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on making maps. I tend to create pretty cool little things, but I end up ruining the whole thing because I either can't think of any good idea's for rooms or puzzles or I re-use the same thing over and I get frustrated and just don't mess with it anymore. So if anyone could help me out with tip, tricks, or ideas that'd be great!

List and get familiar with all the hotkeys. It will save you a lot of time in the long run, a real game-changer.

Wish i knew them all in my first year of mapping.

How do I look at hotkeys or change them?

LOL please refer to Kappes Buur's post above yours. It will show you where all the hotkeys are listed.

I recommend messing around with them all and experimenting until they become second nature. Knowing all the useful ones will make mapping so much easier and faster and therefore more enjoyable.

Since you are new to using an editor, I will give you some slack and help you out.

Open GZDBBF or GZDB or DBX or DB2

Then follow Tools - Preferences - Controls to view/change the hotkeys.

To print them out, I provided a link how to do that above.

But really, get to know your editor.
