Map20 Question: I'm basically ready for the final fight but still have no BFG. Checked Doomwiki for some hints and realized that I already checked the secret that should have it (cave entrance behind the terminal). Was it removed or moved to another secret for the final version? PS: I just realized that you already released a portion of Pt2.. holy shit.. Thanks! I removed the BFG on UV-difficulty on some point. So only plasma gun there on UV. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
eLeR Creative Posted January 20, 2022 (edited) Hello, I just started playing Lost Civilization with the Scavver's Paradise mod. I'm not sure if choosing this mod is a bull's eye or a fatal mistake ;P Time will tell. Edited June 17, 2022 by eLeR Creative 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
akinata Posted August 25, 2022 played this whole map set with a friend in coop. QCDE mod with hexen monsters addon. a very enjoyable ride! the first few city maps were a bit too much packed with monsters everywhere from the get go. we did enjoy more the first part and last part of the map set. still, i consider this as one of the greatest map pack for doom. overall great open maps design with an enjoyable realistic touch which give a fresh take on doom mapping. little issue while in coop, the dream world map can only be traveled by one player. the othe rone get stuck. if that player dies and respawn to the start of the level both can just walk away toward the end without triggering any monster fight. i know the map set wasn't made with coop in mind but it trully play very well in coop. except for that particular map sadly. i just discovered your lost civilization 2. i'll make sure to take a look at it :) 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lucky that there was only one major bug. I had still thought put on multiplayer while mapping, making many actions repeatable etc and tried to make soft locking not a problem as good as possible. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

(no problem in singleplayer) might be a bug related to some connection issue were some stuff sometimes visually disapear while still being there while playing multiplayer as i tested the same map again and the yellow key was where it should be. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

sandwedge Posted August 28, 2022 Well since this thread was now active, figured I would post the start of my recent playthrough. Was recommended this based on my enjoyment of open, detailed levels and was not disappointed! I've already recorded several vids of this and have been absolutely loving it. The size, detail and fun of exploration and even the encounter designs throughout have been absolutely sublime. I was actually worried about it having levels that were too big, but the tremendous amount of variety and the flow of encounters absolutely hold up for the maps that took me an hour. Of course I usually end up exploring even if I can exit the level because it's a real treat discovering everything. Amazing work, and once I'm done I'll definitely look forward to Lost Civ 2! 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

eqagunn Posted September 5, 2022 Completed the mapset with Supercharge. Took me 8 hours in total, out of which 1.5 hours in the last map. Picked up the mapset based on what I saw in the first map. The mapset turned out to be more complex/lengthly than anticipated, although only few maps were that way. Also, the mapset name made me expect more nature oriented environment while it had quite a few city based maps. A great mapset overall. Hoping you'll finish Lost Civilization 2 at some point. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

There are lots of ideas but it has became too complex to handle so I would have to cut down things, get a clear vision where to go with it so... I don't know when to continue on it. I am an old Doomer, in my 50's. I used to have to get maps from dial up BBS. I even made maps back in the 90s. Over the decades will fire up Doom2 just for nostalgia. Jaska, for the first time in decades I actually could not wait to play Doom again. You design exactly the type of maps I wanted to when I was younger but never had the drive or talent. The scope, details, and flow of your maps are hands above anything else that is out there. iD should pay you for these maps. I am blown away how fun they are and just jaw droppingly impressive. The fact you place small apartment saferooms that overlook the map just put a huge smile on my face. Even my younger son who was not alive when Doom came out asked, "is that really Doom?". I hope I have thrown enough compliments your way to hopefully encourage you to keep going. I can't imagine what it takes to build maps of this level, but it would be a crime for the doom community if you get burned out and step away too long. Maybe try something different with you maps, and different theme and smaller scope, although I prefer your expansive designs. When I started mapping I attempted to make a coop only huge map, where teamwork was required. One player hits a switch to reveal something on the other side of the map that only another player can access in time type design. You would make something incredible for this. Hope you can find that desire again, because I am counting on you. No pressure. Thanks again for the incredible work. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jaska Posted October 3, 2022 @maleitch I surely am speechless! :) Your feedback really warms my heart. I also made maps in the 90s. They weren't near of what I had in my mind, what I visioned. So now later, I could do those maps what I couldn't as a kid back then, and actually more. Opened the editor on a weekend actually but didn't get it going. So can't promise anything. Thank you very much for the kind words :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

It's like antares said over at the Overboard thread - tons of people have quit Doom mapping over the years, but none of them just once. Take your time, maybe come back to it in a few months, maybe don't. Whatever the case, I'm glad we got this fantastic wad. in the first place. :) 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

Kalsonic Posted January 14, 2023 (edited) Jaska, if there's one thing I really love about your maps, it's these out of the way safe spots. So cozy. Played with GMOTA. Spoiler Edited January 14, 2023 by Kalsonic just to be safe 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Flyxolydian Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) For anyone who's interested, here's a playlist of my playthrough, as there doesn't seem to be any gameplay videos that're all kills/secrets/single segment. It's worth mentioning that it's continuous gameplay, not pistol start. I can't imagine maxing Division from a pistol start! Incredible pack Jaska, it's probably my favourite WAD altogether. *EDIT* Deleted first playthrough as FPS was capped at 30, will redo with better gameplay and repost here. Jaska Posted July 3, 2023 Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot to me. Lost civ 2 is on its way! It will have many same design choices as the first one but much more! Took couple of textureless shots some time ago so why not post them as well. 33 Quote Share this post Link to post

Separated. It is on GZDoom also. Well, I originally thought there would be many references to the first one, even visits to some maps or another routes through them. 4 hours ago, Geniraul said: Very happy with the latest news about the megawad, really looking forward to its release! Probably gl_ssao_debug 4 as described here: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2493532 GZDoom freaks out when I try it myself though, perhaps a driver issue or a bug in the specific dev build I'm using. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
