0 Empyre Posted April 2, 2019 In Doom Builder (I am using DBBF, so I don't know if it is in all versions.), press F3 to enter Find and Replace mode, or select it in the Mode menu. In the Search Type drop-down menu, select Thing Type, and then choose what thing. It will select all things of that type, and tell you how many were found. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Simomarchi Posted April 2, 2019 Oh jesus it was so simple. Thank you very much 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Diabolución Posted April 2, 2019 You can try this tool for balancing purposes. Just take into account this tool, while useful, won’t substitute proper playtesting. https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/utils/wad_tools/wadspy11 https://doomwiki.org/wiki/WadWhat ws.exe "my new cool map.wad" > report.txt 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Kappes Buur Posted April 2, 2019 Thumbs up for wadspy1.1 Make a batch file, for example spy.bat Quote ws.exe %1 > report.txt Copy the pwad into the wadspy folder and drag the pwad on top of the batch file to get the report. 0 Simomarchi Posted April 2, 2019 I'm actually really interested in this tool but it seems to not work on my wad... It's a doom-in-hexen map with custom stuff and high enemy count. Is that a problem? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
0 Kappes Buur Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) From the text file Quote May Not Run With : WADs that use custom monsters (DEH, BEX, or DECORATE) So, it seems to work only with vanilla maps. A fix could be to convert the doom-in-hexen map to vanilla with GZDB/GZDBBF (F2) and save with a new wad name and run that through wadspy. 0 Simomarchi Posted April 2, 2019 (edited) It doesn't work, at least for me. Wadspy shows the table properly but full of 0. Wadwhat (that seems to be a wadspy-like program) shows all the infos but only if I drag my wad file on the wadwhat.exe file and only for a couple of seconds (like if you simply doubleclick on the .exe file without any wad). So I don't know. Both are however interesting tools if you're going to analize a vanilla wad Edit: how can I delete this double post? :) Edited April 2, 2019 by Simomarchi 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

All you can do is replace the text with the word deleted or some other comment. 4 hours ago, Simomarchi said: It doesn't work, at least for me. Wadspy shows the table properly but full of 0. So I don't know. That would be most peculiar. The important word here is vanilla format. Convert the GZDoom Hexen format first to GZDoom Doom format and then to DOOM DOOM format. While the line specials do not translate all the other info is retained. Then run it through wadspy. Edited April 3, 2019 by Kappes Buur 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

This solution actually worked well, but the correct converstion order was Doom-in-hexen hexen doom2 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Question
Simomarchi
Hello everyone,
Like the title suggests, is there a tool that counts the number of things that i've placed in a map?
I mean, something that tells me that in this map there are x Imps, y stimpacks etc...
I think it could be a nice resource in balacing health and monster for example.
Doom wiki has this kind of information for some levels and I hope that there's something simpler than counting every thing to do this task
