Custom MIDI Music

When it comes to creating a lovable WAD, one of the first things that comes to my mind is adding your own music to it to keep things fresh and interesting for players. It is also something I have struggled finding an answer for in my past 6 years of modding for Doom. I've looked everywhere but no matter what I have tried it has bared no fruit.

 

I wanted to see what other modders do when it comes to creating custom MIDIs for DOOM. What software do you use/recommend? Do you perhaps make a regular mp3 file and convert it into a MIDI?

lots of sequencers from all times in history produce .MID. ableton can. that's the easy part lol

converting an mp3 into a midi is only good for comedy value

 

there are some good composers on doomworld and they'll typically let you use their old tunes in your work. shop around

i use cubasis for midi tunes and openmpt for tracker files which prboom+ and zdoom ports can load
