*Turning: combo of mouse and arrowkeys
*Movement: arrowkeys
*Fire: Mouse button1... i dont use ctrl anymore
*Run: -none-, i have running on always
*Jump: Right Shift key (so it's really close to the arrowkeys and i dont have to take my hand off of it).
*Sidestep: Right mouse button in combination with arrowkeys (i dont actually move the mouse to strafe)
*Open/Use: Right mouse button (one or two clicks, it doesnt matter, depends n what sourceport's will allow)
*Change Weapon: "\" key because it's right above the enter key and i dont have to move my left hand to get it (only one finger)
*Duck: "/" key because it's right next to shift key.

I listed some ones not used by doom ports because i have this same config in all my other fps's as well. Im extremly proficient at it, and it works very well (just scoot the keyboard over to the left a little if there's problems hitting all the appropriate keys).
The only reason why im not all that well at DM though is just because i have a little ways to go before i get the tactics down (abit short in actually playing in DM, but i ahve no problems with interface and reaction time... i jsut miss alot).

For the original exe, set the joybspeed in the cfg to 31... that acts like always run. Then I do something modernly traditional.. WASD, with space as open.

Up Cursor Key- Move Forwards
Left Cursor Key- Turn to left side
Right Cursor Key- Turn to right side
Down Cursor Key-Move Backwards
Alt Key I use for strafing, in conjunction with Left and Right Cursor Keys
Shift- Run
Control- Fire weapon/punch/cut with chainsaw
Spacebar-Open/Close Door/Activate Lift/Switch/Button
I use the Number Keys located above the letters on the Keyboard for changing weapons.
These are the basic Doom controls and I've used them ever since I first started playing Doom.
This exact same control scheme goes for Heretic, but with the [ and ] keys being used for inventory and Delete being used for Looking Up, and Page Down being used for Looking Down. I use Insert to fly upwards(when I have the Wings of Wrath), Page Up to float downwards and Home to stop flying altogether, and land.
