Zemini Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) This is all speculation and head canon: Time to go full nerd! We see a LIVE demon jail during the short tour of Sentinel Prime at QC2018. My guess is that this acts as your in-game codex bestiary. We also see a large coliseum which might act as a practice mode against the demons you have already killed. This could be the horde mode we have asked for. Entrance: Background with Mars and Classic KDitD Phobos like mountain formation: Prison: Control Dais: Atrium: Sentinel Prime at first will probably be a singular doom level very early in the campaign. You will probably unlock it before venturing back to Mars or Phobos. I will also guess that the demons or enemies guarding sentinel prime initially will be Doom Hunters and Marauders. Their art style and tech suggests that they might be the remnant of a evil Night Sentinel faction and therefore an ally to the demons. Sentinel Prime itself is either Phobos or some other Moon that use to orbit Mars. I speculate that the main hub is suspended in time and links to other dimensions/levels within the main campaign. Maybe this is where Hayden sends you after Doom 2016? Finally, I also have speculated that the story of Classic Doom is actually about the Fall of Argent D'Nur where Phobos and Deimos acted as moon bases. Hell on Earth would then be retconned into Hell on Mars. This would also make the Doom 3 backstory regarding the archaeological dig semi canon. DooM_RO Posted May 11, 2019 My theory about the portal from the last screenshot is that it opens access to Sentinel Prime or takes you to secret areas on Sentinel Prime. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
whatup876 Posted May 11, 2019 An arena/horde mode sounds like a cool idea, considering the mechanics and gameplay elements Eternal has and is expected to have. If it's tied to the coliseum, i hope there's still a certain selection of maps for the mode instead of just one area about said coliseum. Maybe make it as if the night sentinel had their own holodeck training room or something. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Archvile Hunter Posted May 12, 2019 If this theory proves to be true, I don't really know what to feel about it. I have never liked hub worlds in any game, and would much prefer just going level by level. Please don't overcomplicate things. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

I am guessing that you still go level by level, but the hub acts as a intermission between to change your loadouts, replay other missions, PvP and invasions. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Archvile Hunter Posted May 12, 2019 Actually... I just noticed that the doorway is located in the same area that featured the invasion in the demonstration. So after you clear out the area, that door unlocks, or you might need a certain item to unlock it. Either way, is it possible that walking through this door takes you to the "prison", where you can pick a demon to invade as? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted May 28, 2019 You guys might be onto something. I can forsee ingame achievements being earned to unlock playable demons and other items. Instead of Snapmap we have have a singular hub that gives all the replayable content in a single game load, including multiplayer. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
igg Posted June 8, 2019 My theory after watching this year's E3 teaser: This place (Sentinel Prime) is strongly related to the Night Sentinels. Since the Marauder shows up at this place he might be the Night Sentinel who betrayed the others. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

That last sentence doesn't seem likely considering the website says Marauders. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Zemini Posted June 9, 2019 Well I guess we shall see if this theory wins or loses tomorrow. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'm not sure if the plural form is caused by an incomplete briefing of the marketing department or on purpose. During the QuakeCon reveal they unveiled "Slayers arch enemy" and "the Marauder". Thats why I always considered them as unique characters. On the other side, saying something like "the Arch-Ville return" necessarily mean that mean it's just one. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

From the footage we've seen so far the player is going to visit Sentinel Prime in the last half, after 70 %, of the game and has to fight demons there. Since Sentinel Vista looks very similar to Prime I'm not sure whether they are all that different or not. If Sentinel Vista is the outer area of Prime it won't be a hub. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Sounds like the Marauders are the corrupted versions of the Sentinels after Hell won. We saw their spirits in 2016 helping the Slayer in Hell but their bodies have been claimed by Hell and twisted into the Marauders. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

There is some good video on the slayer from the QC Previews but it wasn't avialable. I tried opening it and all it did was contragulate me for finding it. I was sad. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
