Killing enemies through walls with the BFG?

I was playing with noclip around the the final room after the teleporter in e1m8 and I noticed that while I was just barely out of bounds, the enemies in that room were killed by the tracers from the BFG. Then I thought if this could occur if you fired the BFG at just the right moment when doing a key grab or something that slightly pushes doom guy through walls. I doubt this would have any significance and I don't know if it even works. But, I was just on the other side of the wall in e1m8 and the BFG tracers still hit enemies through the wall; so, if doom guy can be pushed slightly out of bounds then this could also work possibly.
