Is it possible to show an intro screen before the 1st map?

Szuran

Question

I'd like to show a single image with 3 sentences explaining the plot before the first map loads. Is it possible, and how? I guess it should be done using MapInfo, like showing a result screen but instead of results you get the "intro". Can you tell me if that's even doable? And if so - how?

How do you imagine it? As far as I know you cannot conrol the way the titlemap is presented.

Did you open the linked page and read it?

An easy way to do it would be to create a separate starting map for the intro, freeze the player with setplayerproperty and display the image and sentences using HudMessage in an OPEN script.

There's also clusterdefs but I don't know if they can be displayed before the starting map, as far as I know these only work between maps.

You could use a Titlemap to convey the storyline.

But that would lead to an intermission screen with stats, par time etc., wouldn't it? I think that would immediately break any immersion.

Yes, and there is no mention of the fact you can act a text in the wiki. Thank you.
