Good actors can sell even a weak plot.

It is never the Plot and how complex it is, what makes a good Story, it is how you tell it.

Actors are a big Part of how it is transported to the People.

To the Topic:

Xenoblade Chronicles is very overrated.

Got it last Week and the Battle and Quest System is brutally boring.

It is a MMORPG System without the Benefits of an MMORPG.

The Dark Knight Movies are boring, Batman Returns has a much better Style.

Final Fantasy XII is much better than anticipated and i have much Fun with it.

Castlevania "64" truly is much Fun.

The Controls are a bit clunky, but not as much as somebody might think.

Somehow, i had no Problems with the Chainsaw Guy in my first playthrough, but my second haha

I prefer The Terminator over Judgment Day.

Same here, I even find the soundtrack a lot cooler. And the lengths they went to make the T800 terrifying.

Robocop 2 isn't that terrible a sequel.

Likewise, I legit enjoyed it a lot. Sure, it isn't as good as the original, but I still find it pretty watchable, moreso than the reboot.

Sonic was a product of the 90's, and never will be good again.

Sonic 1 is an average Title from Beginning and it was only good Advertisment.

The Gameplay is pretty primitiv and unfair, as you have to memorize the Levels to avoid Stuff.

It is the 80s Gameplay Design to lengthen a Game that hasn't much to offer.

Just compare it to Super Mario World or Doom.

Being with Advertisment, the Switch isn't so much better than the Wii U, but had so much better Advertisment from the Beginning.

Well, yes it definitely has had better marketing but it's completely undeniable that the Switch being a fully functional portable hybrid console makes it far more attractive as a product. I say that and I don't care much for portables, never did, but Nintendo + portable has long been a recipe for major success.

I think if anyone should be pissed it'd be the 3DS audience because Nintendo kinda just dumped that console after a point.

I agree, very much. It’s not the typical “jazzy spritey” Castlevania one would expect, but I still enjoyed the gameplay, levels, and of particular note the atmosphere. Both of the characters were fun to play.

I haven’t played Legacy of Darkness, and my roommate actually has the cartridge of it laying around. Sadly can’t find an N64 around here, though, so I may have to dip into the emulation realm if I can’t find a system nearby…or if it’s not hiding at my parents’!

edit: Oh I missed you mentioning FF12, I liked that too!

I find GTA 2 more fun than III and Vice City. It has nothing to do with nostalgia but the fact that GTA 2 didn't took itself seriously, and i also preffer the top-down perspective.

I find Populous 3 the beginning a great underrated game of its own, way more fun than its predecessors. Such a pity that its community got strained and dying because EA not releasing the source code back when POP3 had a larger community, and EA had the gall to charge 25,000 dollars in exchange for the source code back in 2012 IIRC.

Vegeta from DBZ is not a good character beyond Namek Saga, in fact its a liability for the most part, putting his life and everyone else's in danger because of his pride and lust for combat, in order to get a good challenge and display of his might, only to get beat up and humiliated in the end, which can be hilarious at times. And his "redemption phase" felt forced and out of place. As a kid i thought he was better off dead and he was too evil to be redeemed, even by the standards of his barbaric species.

GTA 4 is better than San Andreas

Wind Waker is better than Majora's Mask/Ocarina Of Time

the GameCube is the best Nintendo console (yes, better than the Virtual Boy)

OG Quake's soundtrack isn't as good as people say (it's good, not that good)

David Lynch's Dune is the worst big budget movie ever made. It's an insult to the novel it's based on and the entire medium of film on the whole. Toto's soundtrack is awesome but everything else about the movie is horrible.

Lynch took a book about politics, economics, philosophy, sociology, coming of age, dealing with trauma, religion, war, psychology, bigotry, existentialism, and power dynamics and he turned it into a cheesy parody of Star Wars starring White Space Jesus. He loves to say that the reason the movie sucked was because he didn't have final cut, but the real problem is he decided to make a pretentious monument to his own ego instead of making the slightest effort to understand the point of the novel he was adapting. The changes that the producers vetoed were things like him wanting to film the whole thing in black and white and having all the characters carry around live aardvarks (they convinced him to settle for pugs, which was still ridiculously dumb).

The movie was more expensive than any Star Wars film to date but the costumes looked like Hefty bags and the sets were barren and cheesy like an episode of 1966 Batman. All they were missing were gigantic labels in all capital letters.

They hired plenty of good actors but the performances are ridiculously wooden and lifeless.

For an inexplicable reason Lynch decided to have the characters dub internal whispering monologues over close up shots of the actors making constipation faces. Rather than, you know, conveying the information visually as one does when making a film, he decided to simply have the characters announce things directly to the audience.

David Lynch tried to turn Dune into Star Wars, but the problem is that George Lucas already turned Dune into Star Wars. He called it "Star Wars" and unlike Lynch's Dune, it didn't suck.

I'll believe its bad but we're in a universe where Disney is redefining that qualifier seemingly annually at this point.

Although the worst for me wasn't them, can blame WB for Man of Steel. Which I would say is the worst adaptation of anything of all time as well.

I actually enjoy the On A Rail sections in Half-Life 1. It's just feels pretty comfy going around the levels on the tram cart and then exploring the spaces littered all over the chapter. I partially despite Black Mesa for cutting out most of these sections of On a Rail, and made it too damn short and oversimplified.

Somewhat related to the opinion above, I don't really like Black Mesa's Xen levels that much, though most of my gripes are with the aesthetic than the actual gameplay itself. I didn't like the pandora-esque/underwater-like scenery, Xen was supposed to look more fungal and less terrestrial. Otherwise, it was fine, and the boss battles were an improvement over the originals.

I prefer Half-Life 1 over Half-Life 2, and I think Half-Life 2 should have not retconned a bunch of characters like Eli and Breen (even though I like Breen and consider him to be actually more reasonable than what most people believe) and separated itself from the original outside of Gordon and G-Man in order to make them more distinct. Also, I prefer the more sterilized and bleak empty atmosphere in retail HL2 over the more over-the-top, less subtle HL2 beta atmosphere.

Portal 2 doesn't need a sequel.

I really didn't enjoy Quake as much as I enjoyed Doom. Quake 4 was okayish I guess. It has a bland artstyle and is pretty forgettable all things considered, aside from the stroggification sequence.

Games weren't all better in the past, it's just that the games industry is larger and game development is more accessible to people, and most gamers just end up finding more of these shitty shovelware games since everything is online. Plus nostalgia.

This one is hard to argue with. I loved Sonic Mania, precisely because it was a product of the 90's. Every attempt to modernise the formula has failed IMO.

Bionic Commando on NES is lot of fun for me because it actually has a somewhat reasonable difficulty curve while other popular NES games just throw everything at you in the first level at once.

It’s quite a strange timeline where the most fun I’ve had with Sonic in the third dimension is due to Doom Legacy.

I'm a huge Metallica fan but it's true. Any other bassist and they would've been Overkill with a worse drummer.

Music: Motorhead is dad rock, but if your dad was a cokehead.

Games: Interplay murdered fallout, and Bethesda is just fucking its decaying corpse.

Metal Gear went to shit when it left the MSX.

GTA is overrated.

That's all for now.

Not sure if this counts as a "retro" opinion or not, but: Eyes Wide Shut is Kubrick's second-best film.

And no, his best film isn't 2001.

Contra Hard Corps is better then Contra III. They're both extremely difficult, but Contra III is just absurdly difficult. And yes, you can argue that Hard Corps is just style over substance, but at least in Hard Corps you have the new weapons inventory system that makes the game slightly easier. Playing as Brownie comes to mind for cheesing the game and having an easier time.

I do enjoy most of Duke Nukem 3D's official expansions, and still occasionally play them. Even Duke!Zone 2 and Duke!Extreme. The two add-ons I have never seen get any positive feedback. And to be fair they aren't actually any masterpieces, but have huge flaws. Bad gameplay and bugs. Duke!Extreme going even as far as adding very overpowered and too regularly appearing enemy. Still the expansions do have redeeming qualities for me. Both have very memorable and unique maps like graveyard, fun house, junkyard, gym etc. They are still short and not too mazy, easy to play through. Duke!Extreme's new weapons were fun and artwork on new monsters looks good and fitting to Duke universe.

The vast majority of video games are centered around rote memorization of routes and obstacles.

Well, Lemmy was a tweaker, I'm sure he did his share of coke, but he preferred meth. But Motorhead did have some fucked up songs, "Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me" comes to mind.

Yeah they had their anthem rock songs like Ace of Spades, but they did dig deeper.
