The Given - Soundtrack remake

Hi! Remember The Given by @dobu gabu maru?

 

 

You may or may not know that I wrote the MIDI soundtrack especially for it, it's one of my favourite things I've ever written and I love the map itself so it's really humbling to be associated with it.

Here's a new version of that soundtrack, including the title screen and epilogue themes. An HD music remake, if you will; nice VSTs, some real instruments etc.

 

There's also a WAD version that can be loaded after TheGiven.wad to replace the MIDIs. Requires a port with support for OGG format (i.e. PrBoom+ or GZDoom) . In PrBoom+ you may need to change the samplerate field in prboom-plus.cfg to 44100 or 48000. (I used 48000 here but 44100 seems to play it back just fine, 22050 does not).

Finally sat down to give this a good, thorough listen—beautiful work Eris. The original composition is so mysterious and wistful that it's great to hear it fleshed out, especially the flute & strings. Really like the slight deviations and flourishes you add here and there. It's a really gorgeous piece that I'm equally as honored to have associated with my map. You're a phenomenal composer and I hope you keep at it!
