Anyway there are several old demos for tnt and plutonia that only playback correctly with complevel 2. This is because some people used to load "-iwad doom2.wad -file tnt.wad" (this is of course the wrong to load it). To record new demos always use "-iwad tnt.wad -complevel 4" 0 Share this post Link to post
vdgg Posted October 2, 2020 Mini discussion moved here. I disagree with the word "wrong". I am using vanilla for Final Doom and I only have doom2.exe, so this is acceptable being my only choice. 0 Share this post Link to post
GoneAway Posted October 2, 2020 Ya, both complevel 2 and 4 are fine for final doom. 1 Share this post Link to post

To record new demos always use "-iwad tnt.wad -complevel 4" that actually was a tas demo, and it was made in 2008 using prboom + dre, and its even set to complevel 4 by default. it will just desync unless complevel 2 is forced in prboom during demo playback. also my mistake with posting it on ultimate doom thread, clicked wrong. meant to post here. also doom2.exe exists for final doom also (doom2f), also there is one little difference between complevel 2 and 4, its the teleporter behavior, in final doom it acts wrong, it teleports the player higher and also an occurence in 30pl1337 by jongo where in map25 he moves slightly when he gets in teleporter. (yes i did read old tas thread). heh Edited October 2, 2020 by alps 0 Share this post Link to post

Starduster Posted October 16, 2020 Hello, I noticed 2 issues concerning my Sunlust NoMo demos, thanks @Lucky_Edie for reminding me. My map01 nomo demo has a duplicate entry. That's my fault for double posting it. If one could be deleted that would be great because they are the exact same thing. The Map31s category does not apply to this wad, so my nomo demo under that "map" would have to be moved to the regular map31 category. My apologies for not bringing this up sooner, and a huge thanks to the DSDA team for your great work! 2 Share this post Link to post

almostmatt1 Posted October 19, 2020 Hello, Because of my history of having cheated runs, I understand and accept that I have burned the bridge of being able to submit speedruns and have them be accepted. However, if I created and submitted some TAS demos, I was wondering if they might still be accepted for DSDA? 3 Share this post Link to post

Teedre Posted October 26, 2020 (edited) Completely forgot about this. This was on the 1st of September, I submitted two runs (as shown ^) on E1M3 100% secrets and E1M3s 100% secrets. Both demos were uploaded on E1M3 and not one of them is on E1M3s. The 1:05.97 run is correct because its the normal exit but the 0:55.51 run is the secret exit and its on the normal exit table. Please fix. Edited October 26, 2020 by TomatoTom 1 Share this post Link to post

Nomo100 is not tracked separately for secret and normal exit, so this is correct. 1 Share this post Link to post
plums Posted October 28, 2020 If I post a demo made with a git version of a port, what should I put for the version in the text file? Build date, revision number, commit hash, something else? Most relevant with PrB+UM 2.5.1.7 where the last proper release was over a year ago but development has continued. 1 Share this post Link to post

In my submissions I put the abbreviated commit hash in the txt. On DSDA it's just listed as 2.5.1.7 though. 2 Share this post Link to post

You can put all that extra information, especially the build hash in the text file. The more info in there, the better. As for the fields you see in the DSDA tables, at the moment, from what I know, there's only support for the simple port version ("PRBoom 2.5.1.7") In other news; during the course of last week, 76 demos were uploaded. The total running time of these demos is 5 hours, 12 minutes, and 5 seconds The most popular category was UV Max, with a total of 27 demos. 4 Share this post Link to post

WH-Wilou84 Posted November 8, 2020 Hey, Seems like I have two redundant player profiles on the new DSDA : this one, and this one. Can you please merge the two, and only keep "William Huber" ? Thanks in advance :) 3 Share this post Link to post

alps Posted November 9, 2020 38_vita_38's e2m9 nomo tas is said to be done in prboom plus 2.5.1.4 however it is xdre 2.22 1 Share this post Link to post
4shockblast Posted November 9, 2020 Removed alps BTSX demo above, merged WH-Wilou into William Huber, and fixed the engine on vita's nomo TAS. Thanks for the reports! 4 Share this post Link to post
GoneAway Posted November 9, 2020 Small new feature: linking old versions of wads to the latest one. We'll be adding this to wads one by one, so don't be surprised if it's missing from most things right now. 8 Share this post Link to post
PVS Posted November 9, 2020 On the "Feed" page it would be nice to have additional filter by iwad, to be able to see separately the latest recorded demos for Plutonia, Doom, etc. Also, it would be nice to add a "Help page" - how to use DSDA and its functionality. For example, I remember that it is possible to compare movies with each other, but I don’t remember - how to do it in the DSDA interface. On DSDA Help page it will be possible to describe all the functionality that already exists and which will appear in the future. 2 Share this post Link to post

Filters for the feed are definitely something I'd like to have at some point. Also something like picking wads you want to "watch" and having a page with updates to your chosen wads. A help page with features and such sounds like a good idea as well - I'll look into setting that up. 4 Share this post Link to post
Dimon12321 Posted November 10, 2020 A demo submission date (or created date) column would be cool as well. 3 Share this post Link to post
