Blunted Player Posted July 21, 2019 (edited) Hi! my name is Lucas aka Blunted Player. I Recently started to play a lot more Doom and i had this account that I just used to ask something. But never introduced myself, so I wanted to do it today! Im from Argentina, so maybe my grammar will have some issues, I hope to not disturb anybody with my language (please, make fun of it). Be in this forum will alow me to improve my second language. Im 30 y/o and I enjoy playing Doom in my spare time. Actually Im playing Plutonia 2, Alien Vendetta and NGMVMT, nice choices for an average player! Theres a lot of megawads that calls my attention, but i cant play all at once! So, hello everyone! :) Edited July 21, 2019 by Blunted Player 12 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomSpud Posted July 21, 2019 I haven't introduced myself either, I've been here since May. My name is Tait, I'm from Australia and im 34. Been playing Doom since my family got our first PC in 1994. Was a 486sx33 with 4MB RAM and 210MB hard drive (which was a monster at the time). It didn't even have a soundcard so my earliest memories of Doom are with the beeps and bops of the internal PC speaker (which was as downright terrifying as the proper recorded sound effects!). Eventually I got a Soundblaster16 card and got to hear the game in all it's heartstopping glory. Was hooked instantly and been playing ever since. Got into Heretic soon afterwards too and while I do love it, it just never struck the nerve like Doom did. Same with Quake, loved it but there was just something missing... Kinda lurked in the background of the Doom community since my early teens (1998-1999ish) and played around with WadAuthor quite a lot when it was the go-to mapping tool back in the day and pumped out a lot of basic maps but nothing I ever released (nothing I still have either after they were lost in a massive harddrive failure nearly 20 years ago). Doom 3 came out, loved it but again it didn't strike the nerve like Doom/2 did. Moved to Doomsday Engine when it came out because I really loved the lighting effects but migrated to GZDoom several years ago and discovered a beautiful little gem called Brutal Doom which basically sealed my fate lol Continued mapping over all the years with DoomBuilder and then eventually to GZDoomBuilder. Doom 2016 blew me away (currently playing through it again on PS4 in preparation for Doom Eternal) and tickles my naughty bits just like Doom/2 does but in a different way. In February I decided after all these years I wanted to actually REALLY make a serious WAD and go all out with my mapping and finally make something worth showing to others so I began work on my Doom: Dissension project and for the first time started to involve and immerse myself in the community, forums, etc. and get amongst the other fans who share the same love and passion for Doom that I do. When I play WADs like Hell Revealed, Scythe, Eviternity etc. I see so much time, dedication and love for Doom and I wanted to finally after 25 years, be a part of that too.Belated hello everyone! :) 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
nrofl Posted July 21, 2019 Maybe this should just be a thread about introducing yourself. Also hello Blunted! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doom_Dude Posted July 22, 2019 I haven't introduced myself either, I've been here since 2000 when the internet used to made out of sticks and old phone parts. My name is Doom_Dude, I'm from Canada. Been hacking at Doom maps since 99 0r 2000... not gonna go look it up, kinda lazy. I have a 32+ level megawad in the works called Vilecore 2 that is getting all GZDoom'd. The first one was kinda iffy so I decided to make another one, which is taking decades to finish somehow. By the time I get done Wrack 4 will be out. I didn't play Doom till later because I was still messing around with a Commodre 64 at the time and was probably playing Pool of Radiance or somethin' way back when. So I first played Doom on a Pentium 166 and that's when all Hell broke loose and I started discovering all these Doom games and Heretic and then Quake and stuff like that. Anyhow welcome to wherever we are right now. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
