Boomslang Posted July 30, 2019 Hey, so i put doom 3 on ultra settings and it's giving me a warning, i have a mid teir Computer which is plenty capable of running this game and i was wondering if i should adhere to this warning. also is there any mods that could enhance my experience with this game for the first time playing? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GuyMcBrofist Posted July 30, 2019 You can ignore the warning. It was put there for when the game first came out. There are lots of mods that overhaul the graphics and gameplay. Here's a list. I played Absolute HD Mod and thought it was pretty good. https://www.moddb.com/games/doom-iii/mods?sort=visitstotal-desc 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

GuyMcBrofist Posted July 30, 2019 Absolute HD modifies gameplay. So does Sikkmod AFAIK. Wulfen Texture pack is definitely the first thing you want. After that you'll probably want to find some better shaders if Wulfen doesn't supply them already. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

snapshot Posted July 30, 2019 You may try dhewm3, a source port that fixes some bugs and restores features like EAX-like sound effects. unfortunately it doesn't support all of the original game's mods due to some .dll changes but this won't be a problem if you just want to play the original game: https://dhewm3.org/ There's also a neat little subtitles mod for the original Doom 3, but it's a bit buggy so sometimes the HUD will still appear during cutscenes for no reason: https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom3cc/downloads/doom-3-closed-captions-doom-3-cc-v20-no-radar-version 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
