Extra Levels In Heretic

I was looking at the heretic iwad (the one with the 2 extra episodes) and noticed their are 3 levels (E6M1, E6M2, E6M3) and i was wondering if anyone knew why these levels are there?

yeah i sorta firgured they would be multiplayer, but after inspecting the levels, i noticed the amount of detail in them. so i didn't think they were. oh well they were probably just trying to impress us...

Really? They work just fine as 6th episode in single player. Those are some of the last levels I'd play a multiplayer game on.
