LAGI Posted January 22, 2020 Hello all, would like to share the current progress of the 1st class smoking room located on A-Deck. Work is going well, still decorating this area, I am personally really happy with this area, as I have taken alot of measures to look at photos and sketches to make sure the ceiling patterns resemble those which were once aboard (and still are) the Titanic. Thank you again to those interested in the project and those who support this insane idea. :) LAGI. 10 Quote Share this post Link to post
NPC_CO8ALT Posted January 23, 2020 Man, if you can pull this off, I think you might have a Cacoward coming in the future. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
LAGI Posted January 23, 2020 It can be done, its just the time it is taking lol 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dexiaz Posted January 23, 2020 The color choose on floor is really odd. It forces me to feel like the screenshot resembles some 3D map editor which uses unnatural colors to highlight triggers or something like that. Mixing blue and red colors are not often a good solution, it feels really uncomfortable. tl;dr My eyes bleed. I thought it would have color scheme like in Shining 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LAGI Posted January 23, 2020 (edited) Yeah, the pattern and colors are the same as the carpet which was on the titanic in the first class smoking room, just finding it hard to find the actual texture which more like carpet than a computer done version. Always looking though :). Edited January 23, 2020 by LAGI 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LAGI Posted January 24, 2020 (edited) Hello all, just some screenshots on what I have been working on :). (Ignore the Onscreen Display lol, forgot to turn it off for the shots, still, shows I'm getting 60fps at least :)) Again, thank you for looking :). More to come as the project develops. LAGI. LAGI Posted January 24, 2020 I'm not replicating the movie, I'm replicating the real thing. 1912, iceberg, atlantic, sink :P. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post

LAGI Posted January 25, 2020 Hello all, some quick news on a major update I am going to be doing. When I first started out on this project, I was still very new to mapping in Doom, so my 3D floor experience was a little, off. With this, the entire exterior has been deleted and I am starting it again, this time the size is also increased to house everything and details, the length has also been increased. My experience now in detailing is, as you can see from interior screenshots, higher than they were when I started the project. So the exterior is going to even better this time around, and the performance issues which I had, and alot of you expect to have, will be decreased dramatically. Thanks. LAGI Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Ok, so progress on the exterior being re-done...... going great! This is the old design: To me from a Titanic lovers point of view, it didn't do it justice, it wasn't bright, it didn't look sexy, the scaling was completely off, the decks were no where near wide enough. The textures were dull looking, it just just plain old boring. I scoured around the old design in GZDoom, noting down all the problems, all the textures I had to replace, all the sectors I had to rethink, and most of all, the size, Titanic was famous (Quoting Mr Ismay) for its "sheer size" aswell as the luxury and the sinking. With my notes on my desk, UDB ready to go, and the outline of the old design parked up next to where the new one is now (See below): Top lines being the old one, bottom one being the new design, with curves! (The new design has been curved more and made longer aswell since this screenshot was taken) With all this, I present, the Titanic Exterior 2.0 (Showcasing the work I have done on the bow, its the first detailing done so far): I have learnt alot about detailing since I started the interior, the smoking room, first class lounge, and the reading and writing room. I thought it would be best to hone those new skills and completely rip away the exterior and start it again (All Interior is intact). The project has now also been split into maps, so for example: Titanic Exterior - MAP01 Boat Deck Interior - MAP02 A-Deck - MAP03 This direction of optimization was crucial for performance considering the sheer size of each deck, having all of it in one map would be insane. These will all be accessible via doors of which you press "USE" on, and the map corresponding to the other side of that door will load up instantly with no intermission with the player now being on the other side of that door. The menu has also had an overhaul, (the background will be changed once the new exterior is complete), it has new sounds, new menu graphics, and some Titanic facts instead of quit messages, so not only is this an eye candy project, it can also be educational for those who do not know much about the Titanic. The cursor represents the logo of the White Star Line. I may put points on each deck where you can press "USE" and some information might come up, like a newspaper article on the sinking, or some information regarding some of the high esteemed passengers who were aboard the ship. I hope you enjoyed this post, and please, I appreciate all the support considering this is a one man army assault on such a huge project scale. Again, thank you all :). LAGI. LAGI Posted January 30, 2020 Quick update on the exterior rebuild. Added my own watermark to the project, makes it look more official :). The stern overhaul has had a dramatic effect on the look of it: Work is underway on the starboard side of the A-Deck Promenade: More screenshots to come as the project develops. Ar_e_en Posted October 16, 2020 I remember finding out about this project a few years ago after I finished playing the wad Bauhaus. Impressive work! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scuba Steve Posted November 5, 2020 Have you changed the player eye-height in ZDoom so you don't feel like a toddler wandering the ship? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I do believe these angles are for cinematic flair rather than actual in game unaltered height, done by no-clipping into the floor a bit to take a screenshot that has more interesting angles compared to what you'd find at normal head height. Then again I could be entirely wrong and you do in fact control a toddler. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

LAGI Posted November 23, 2020 Been a while folks! The project isn't dead, nor will it ever be completely dead, I hit a bad moment in my life during the first England lockdown and my ability and motivation took a nose dive. Lately I have been loading up the project and doing some work on a new area of the ship to see if I can revive my love and passion for it. So far, its looking good, I still have the ability to make a room look realistic in terms of what can be done using GZDoom and UDB, but its look promising. I don't want to let down those who love the project for how it looks so far, and I personally do want to make this succeed as being possibly the most ludicrous thing ever thought of for Doom. So please, keep your interests high and your support higher, as I will get back to this and I will get posting again! LAGI. 16 Quote Share this post Link to post
smeghammer Posted November 23, 2020 @LAGI, excellent news that this isn't dead! Been following this for a while now, nominally for my 5 year old lad who's Titanic mad, but it looks super cool anyway. Really keen to see more. I for one say please continue with it if at all possible - it looks awesome! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

LAGI Posted November 25, 2020 (edited) Just testing the water with a Fireplace build in 1st Class Stateroom B-51, note nothing else going on in this room as the fireplace is the first decor to make, so thought I'd just do this to see if I still have the ability :) I think I still got it. LAGI Posted December 1, 2020 Just some WIP shots of 1st Class stateroom B-51 (Supposedly the same suite of which Rose lived in from the 1997 movie), and also WIP of the private promenade: Work is a little slower this time around, as real life has taken over more and ya have to stick to your priorities (IE: ya new woman lol). Thanks for viewing folks :). 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

You are indeed correct, I prefer to take angled screenshots for showcasing, using crouching mainly or like you say, no-clip or fly :). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Scuba Steve Posted December 1, 2020 There has to be a better glass texture. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Well my best bet was to just leave it with no texture, but then it just looks like an empty gap with no glass, but I will probably look around or modify a glass texture if I find one :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LAGI Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) Coming along nicely this area (Private Promenade of Stateroom B-51 (Parlour Suite)), my attention to detail is getting more noticeable as area's are constructed. Edited December 9, 2020 by LAGI 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
