AD_79 Posted October 17, 2019 I have only managed about a map and a half so far. On the other hand I've also managed to compose five MIDIs for my project, all of which I'm pretty satisfied with. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

(9 maps, 8 regular and 1 secret) It's designed for Ultimate Doom and has a minimum compatability of LZDoom (but will work perfectly fine in GZDoom). The maps are significantly more difficult than standard Ultimate Doom maps but are all beatable from pistol start. They are intended for continuous though. There are 4 player starts for coop but I don't know how balanced anything will be in multiplayer. No deathmatch starts. If anyone is interested feel free to try these out. I'm always open to criticism, feedback and whatnot. Enjoy. These maps are designed with the below settings for them to look and play as intended. *** USE OPENGL renderer and NOT SOFTWARE*** *** LIGHTMAPS ON at medium or high *** *** to avoid unnecessary frustration in difficulty just play with freelook on. *** *** jumping and crouching are optional but won't really make much of a difference *** Credits - recolors of existing Doom textures that I messed around to make. - Quake 1: mission pack 1 textures. - Songs are from Freemidi.org (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, and theme songs from both Candyman and the Haunting.) - Screaming Faces texture (for the life of me I can't find the creator, let me know and I'll credit you!) Alper002 Posted October 18, 2019 I've finished 11 maps so far, 10 regular maps and 1 secret. I doubt I'll finish the wad within the month, but I'll most likely have made substantial progress on it by then. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
E.M. Posted October 19, 2019 I'm working on my ninth map right now. Some are homages to my favorite maps from WADs like Hell Revealed, though I do change things up a bit so that way they're not exact copies. I also read an old thread from here which talked about Pueblo architecture in Doom, which inspired me to make this. Oh, and a cacoswarm. 8 Quote Share this post Link to post
Havoc Crow Posted October 19, 2019 Not a very good month so far! I've lost a bunch of days to tiredness, illness, or just plain ol' laziness. Still, I hope to have at least 3-4 playable levels by the end of the month. I've begun work on seven levels so far, in various states of incompletedness right now. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
DMPhobos Posted October 20, 2019 I've finished the first map of my nano project, considering the goal was 5 maps i guess i really should hurry up soon lol 16 Quote Share this post Link to post
Bridgeburner56 Posted October 20, 2019 (edited) The first 2 weeks of nanowadmo yielded some heated results Edited October 21, 2019 by Bridgeburner56 11 Quote Share this post Link to post
komojo Posted October 21, 2019 I tried this last year and only got halfway finished with a few maps. This time I'm working on the same maps and trying to actually finish them. Since I've got more time I decided to add a bit of custom graphics...so of course I've spent 3 weeks doing the graphics and barely started on the level design. It's getting there, though... 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
TheMightyHeracross Posted October 21, 2019 Only got 7 maps done, college stuff got in the way. Should be OK for the rest of the month though so I'll probably make 2 more and call it an episode, maybe get some feedback before November. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Benjogami Posted October 24, 2019 (edited) I started in September, hope to have 32 vanilla Doom2 maps done sometime soon but maybe not the end of October. Against the rules, but definitely inspired by nanowadmo: Edited October 24, 2019 by Benjogami 13 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gothic Posted October 27, 2019 (edited) I haven't posted anything since the challenge started, because I was afraid I couldn't finish it like last year. But since I'm 5 levels away from finishing it, I figured it would be time to reveal what I have been working on. I'm working on a 28 level pack for Hexen called "4 weeks of pain", consisting on 4 hubs with 5 maps and a boss each. The maps are short and simple, trying to not be too complex for time restrains. Unlike my previous attempt at a megawad, I started fresh from day 1 without predrawn maps, but with a clear idea on what the maps would be like (I was gathering resources before that but I don't think that counts). Here are some screenshots from a couple of maps: Spoiler I was hoping I could have this finished earlier, but my previous notebook stopped working and I had to buy a new one days later, so I may have the maps finished by the end of the month, but polishing and difficult settings may come later. DavidN Posted October 27, 2019 Ready to declare this finished :) Thanks Ryath, for organizing this project to give people a forum of encouragement, and for testing this WAD! Keeper of the Seven Keys 3: Disc One 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
galileo31dos01 Posted October 27, 2019 So I changed plans and started a new map a couple days ago, and currently thinking to make a mapset spiritually inspired by Kama Sutra, megawad by Gusta and Method. It'll be in limit-removing, unknown number of maps, few custom textures from different sources, plenty of doomcute and sexy gameplay, at least that's how it feels in KS. I'll also include PL2, HR2, Going Down and other sources of inspiration, while trying to keep things my way. All of this comes from, on one side that I'm currently revisiting KS and got me in the mood, on another side not too long ago Juza released a demo of their WIP stuff inspired by it and they nailed that gameplay, and since then I kinda wanted to do something similar myself, and finally because I'm enjoying mapping more than before. In the meantime I learned to create texture lumps and add animated textures to a wad, plus I made a custom texture from a dying monster graphic. In conclusion, things are going fine so far, even if not what I planned at the beginning of the month for this, but there has been some productivity. I do hope to get one teaser map by 31st. Meanwhile a screenshot of the first room in a decent state: 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
𝕲𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖌𝖊𝖗1 Posted October 28, 2019 I've got a few DM maps made, not all 32 like I was hoping. I'm going to finish them up, but where do I post the results? I'll probably finish 32 after the contest depending on how they're received. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted October 29, 2019 So far i've made... 14 maps out of the 16 planned, with the latter i'm working on are just layout with few crude thing placement. Eventually i will "complete" this, at least for a playable alpha like the last year. But i think that for the 30 of November i'll have something... Otherwise, i'll finish it when possible, joining the already long list of procrastinated maps lol 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
scwiba Posted October 29, 2019 Three days to go! I hope everyone's still got some steam left, but don't worry too much if you can't make the goal you originally set. If you're making any kind of progress, you're livin' the dream! 23 hours ago, 𝕲𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖌𝖊𝖗1 said: I've got a few DM maps made, not all 32 like I was hoping. komojo Posted October 31, 2019 Entering the final stretch... My wad for this month is basically finished, but I think I'm going to spend a few more days polishing it and then release it this weekend. I was able to finish 9 maps total. 11 Quote Share this post Link to post
𝕲𝖗𝖊𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖎𝖌𝖊𝖗1 Posted October 31, 2019 Here's my entry for the contest. I hope you enjoy the maps. It includes levels 1-15 for DM DOOM2. Made with GZDoom in mind (MAPINFO, custom skies, PK3 file format). nanoDMwad19-v1.pk3.zip 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted October 31, 2019 Well, despite having a pretty easy month, I've only made a map for DBP17, and did play testing for the rest of the DBPKrew(4lyfe!), plus contributing to the resources. I guess from the perspective that I finished a project this month, I've succeeded. However, the project I wanted to finish has gone untouched... But I think I'll try and pick it up again soon. I want to finish it this year, at least! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gothic Posted October 31, 2019 I'm only 1 map left, and all bosses are done. I say I did better than last year. I'm still figuring out some MAPINFO stuff though, and making custom graphics, should have done that the past month. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Last year I made 3, so that's nice! It's still in the works, but if anyone wants to check out an unfinished version, here it is: 3IAC_prerelease1.zip Feedback is much appreciated. It's a vanilla-compatible megawad-wannabe with three protagonists, changing points of view (I made the story-relevant levels first, so you'll see the entire story if you play this now) and an unique gimmick on almost every level. It seems that I haven't shared any screenshots on Doomworld yet, so here's a few: 11 Quote Share this post Link to post
galileo31dos01 Posted October 31, 2019 Right, so, I don't have my map finnished or in a decent state to share here, got caught into micro-detailing for hours and hours and made little progress on the gameplay. However, I didn't expect drawing doomcute to be so much fun. In addition I learned to make deep water and other fancy old-school stuff, so there's definitely some success. I only have to finnish a map or two, but for another time :) Proof, unfinished parts, no brightness contrasts yet: Spoiler Skybox and few textures found in this thread. Credits will be given whenever I release something. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alper002 Posted October 31, 2019 I managed to finish 16 maps this month, and I was really close to finishing a 17th one... Oh, well. I'll be working on my project(and hopefully figure out a name for the damned thing) in November. Hoping to be done with at least the maps by the 15th. After that, I will put difficulties in and then mess with non-gameplay stuff like TITLEPICs. If all goes to plan, I should be done by late November. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Biff Dunderbuff Posted November 1, 2019 I managed to complete three maps and create a layout for a 4th. Tomorrow I'll compile them all 3 into a single wad and upload them here. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
NoReason Posted November 1, 2019 Never officially joined here, but I did partake in this just to see what I could do in a month (and keep the rust off while I continue procrastinating on Death in Excess). Got 32 maps out, they're extremely short and difficult though, so play at your own peril - 7 Quote Share this post Link to post
