doomkr Posted October 24, 2019 I tried make it by myself but is impossible, programs exist to do it dont work me (I used dosbox) Songs are: -KMFDM moron (WWIII album) -KMFDM Stray Bullet (Symbols album) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 24, 2019 If the existing programs fail, it's probably because the songs are too big to fit in MUS format. But MUS conversion is unnecessary, unless compatibility with Doom95 is really important for you. Most ports are happy to play MIDI files natively. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
doomkr Posted October 24, 2019 I play in chocolate doom. And programs fail me to open in dosbox. Exist any software dont need be run dos to convert mp3 to midi mus? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 24, 2019 Oh, I thought you had MIDI versions of those songs. If you mean the actual records, forget about it. Chocolate Doom is perfectly capable of playing MIDIs -- as long as they fit within MUS limits, that is -- but isn't meant to play MP3s. You can kinda sorta get around this by setting up music packs, but it's quite a bit of technical work. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
doomkr Posted October 25, 2019 Someone could convert that two songs to MUS format? I'll add him on credits 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted October 25, 2019 You cannot "convert" these to MIDI. Although both are music, they are a completely different representation. You have to rewrite the entire piece note by note, and it's very unlikely that someone may be willing to do it. Any so-called MP3 to MIDI converters are garbage, this is a task that cannot be automated. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted October 25, 2019 You have a few options. Search for MIDI versions people already made. Quality is extremely variable, based entirely on the competence of the transcribers. Just enter "kmfdm midi" in your favorite search engines and you can find stuff. Stuff like this. okay so it doesn't have the specific titles you want, but you may be more lucky elsewhere. Pay someone to do it for you. Jimmy's willing to do commission work and he's Doomworld's most prolific MIDI maker, but there are others too. And yes, that involves money. Work is work. Alternatively, you can also make maps that are so good that people would be willing to work for free just because they love what you're doing, but that's going to be their assessment of quality, not yours. Finally you can also settle on just using some other already existing MIDIs. There are tons of them. Including lot that were made specifically for mods by the musicians in the community. But you can also look at sites like http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/, https://www.vgmusic.com/, or http://www.mirsoft.info/gamemids.php to get soundtracks from other games. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

To slightly expand on why it cannot be, MIDI files actually contain only notes, not actual music, and the way it plays back and sounds varies greatly depending on what device, soundfont, whatever you use. You have to basically redo (transcribe) the whole "song" altogether in a different format if you want that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Welp... finally I made 3rd option xd... was more easier and finally my secret wad looks good (there were only two KMFDM songs) sadly werent the songs I requested. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
BBQgiraffe Posted October 25, 2019 software for converting Mp3 to Midi is completely useless, as it converts everything to Midi, making it sound like garbage, if you want to get a Midi version of your songs you have to compose it yourself. or you could see if someone else already made a Midi cover of said song 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted October 25, 2019 (edited) Apparently there are a few AI based music transcribers in development. From what I've heard they're not that great at the moment, but hopefully at some point in the future we'll be able to convert from MP3 to tablature to MIDI. doomkr Posted October 26, 2019 Tell me names of them! Oh wait, yet aren't avaible not? :/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted October 28, 2019 It doesn't have Stray Bullet or Moron but there are a bunch of KMFDM Guitar Pro and Power Tabs here: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/artist/kmfdm_1080?filter=guitar_pro https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/artist/kmfdm_1080?filter=power Simply download whichever of the above you want, open them with Tux Guitar, and export as MIDI. Usually I find the stuff from Ultimate-Guitar sounds a little nicer than random files found out in the wild (the star rating system helps) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
