El Franko Posted October 25, 2019 I don't know if I'm being really dumb or not, but for some reason I can't get PrBoom+ or even GLBoom+ to load my DOOM.WAD file. It loads DOOM2.WAD perfectly, however. I don't know if I need to write down some parameters to get DOOM.WAD to load correctly, or if I'm completely missing something. Here are some screenshots showing my issue: What my parameters look like: The error message that I get: What my folder looks like: I also tried loading DOOM.WAD on PrBoom+ using Hobomaster22's Doom Launcher Windows app and I also encountered the same error. I would really love some assistance in figuring out how to solve this issue. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Diabolución Posted October 25, 2019 SHA-1 hash of that doom.wad file? This is the expected one: 9b07b02ab3c275a6a7570c3f73cc20d63a0e3833. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Also the filesize in the picture is interesting. Is this a valid IWAD? Something must be broken since PrBoom reports missing tags. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Diabolución Posted October 25, 2019 The BFG one (e5ec79505530e151ff0e6f517f3ce1fd65969c46) is wrongly marked as a PWAD. But any modern version of PrBoom-Plus supports it, so this is not the issue. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah, I did some digging through my files and my DOOM.WAD file shown in this screenshot is from the Steam release of The Ultimate Doom. I have the GOG version as well, but do you think the Steam version is the IWAD that's causing this issue? Edited October 25, 2019 by El Franko 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
El Franko Posted October 25, 2019 Ok guys, quick update: So I decided to replace the Steam DOOM.WAD file on my PrBoom+ folder with the GOG DOOM.WAD file. I did that and now Ultimate Doom can finally run on PrBoom+. I'm happy that I "fixed" it, but at the same time I feel weird and confused. Would anyone care to explain as to why PrBoom+ reacted differently to two different DOOM.WAD files from two different digital games stores even though they are technically the same game/product? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The simple fact that the file sizes don't match (Steam DOOM.WAD should be 12.118kb, not 12.122) the IWAD was modified. The hashes probably don't match either. You could try validating the game's files in Steam, perhaps the client downloaded corrupt files. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I currently use the Steam version and PrBoom+ launches fine with it. Delete the DOOM.wad in your Steam directory and verify the game integrity. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
