ReaperAA Posted October 27, 2019 (edited) This is a new palette for Doom that I created over the weekend to change/tweak some of the colors that I didn't like much and felt that they need an improvement. The main changes are to the reds, blues and greens. And unlike some other palettes, I did not include any new assets. This palette should work with vanilla assets just fine. As of Beta 4, there is also an alternate file called "ColdPal_lite". This version does not change the reds and pinks in the palette and colormap (they are almost same as in vanilla doom) but retains the other changes. Download: idgames link The palette and the colormap (as of Beta 4) look like this: Spoiler Screenshots (Beta1 of the ColdPal and taken using GZdoom's paletted softpoly renderer): Spoiler Known Issues: - None so far that I am aware of. Credits: - BTSX for the greens in the palette. - Eviternity for some colormap optimizations (especially the reds in colormap of the lite version). Tools used: - Slade3 - Paint.NET Edited December 9, 2019 by ReaperAA 28 Quote Share this post Link to post

FearTheReaper Posted October 27, 2019 (edited) Cool effect, looks like sun rays against the glass of CRT monitor or white light in middle of blue. This looks especially well with Doom 64 for Doom II giving that subtle D64 touch. Edited October 27, 2019 by FearTheReaper 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
seed Posted October 27, 2019 Reminds me of the palette Ron made for Hexen. Which is good, I loved that, and I had no idea a palette change also affects the Wolfenstein maps, shit that looks awesome son. Those walls feel like crystals now. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted October 27, 2019 Looks a lot like the UDMX palette, which is a good thing! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted October 28, 2019 Just what happens when u make last minute changes. I accidentally got the greens in the COLORMAP screwed after paletizing it due to some changes I made to the palette. I have now fixed it and I request everyone who downloaded Beta 1 to download the new Beta 2. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

P41R47 Posted October 31, 2019 Pretty good palette, pal! Its similar to the one that Antares031 used for Struggle: Antaresian Legacy. I tested the Coldpal with different wads an it gratly enhances the experience. Desaturated colors are refreshing for the eye. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted November 1, 2019 Beta 3 is here with more COLORMAP tweaks/improvements. Link is in the OP. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReaperAA Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) Beta 4 is here. Apart from further tweaks/optimizations, there is now also an alternate file in the package called "ColdPal_lite.wad". This version does not change the reds and pinks in the palette and colormap (they are almost same as in vanilla doom) but retains the other changes. This is hopefully the final version before I send it for idgames. Edited November 12, 2019 by ReaperAA 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
