seed Posted October 27, 2019 (edited) As I've been busy hunting down changes in the various console versions of classic Doom, I noticed there weren't any WADs with slowed down effects apart from one made by @Edward850 with 11kh SSG sounds a while ago. So, I decided to take the matters into my own hands and find the rest of the sound effects sampled at 22kh and slow them down myself. This was actually a pretty easy task as it can be easily achieved through hex editing the lumps themselves, no editing with other fancy types of software required at all. The slowed down sound effects (accompanied by slowed down music) was a unique quirk present in the various console ports, starting with the original Xbox port. Until this year's Unity releases. Although some ports did not inherit the slowed down music (caused by getting the tempo wrong during the MUS to MIDI conversion process), almost all of them inherited the slowed down sound effects, due to all of them playing at 11kh regardless of their sampling rate. The purpose of this mini WAD is simple: Some people like the slowed down effects (particularly the SSG sounds, I like those too), others might want to bring the experience closer to those ports, especially when playing such IWADs, so here you go, for your enjoyment. If I missed other 22kh sounds do tell me so I can slow 'em down, I checked the wiki for them but perhaps I missed some. Kudos to Edward for helping me out.
