Hellforge Speedmapping Sessions - Halloween Edition

Here are the themes for the speedmapping. The session will start in exactly (almost) 24 hours (9:30am GMT+13) with the themes being drawn on stream a half hour before. The themes are deliberately split into an 'easy' and a 'hard' list to cater to both new and experienced mappers. Maps submitted on time will be played on stream by myself straight after.

 

1. Melee weapons only

2. 1 Weapon

3. Hitscanners only

4. UD monsters only

5. 1 monster

6. Lighting 255-0

 

1. Techbase

2. Hellbase

3. City

4. Void

5. Hell

6. Natural

This is a great idea and I think it stands to increase participation, especially given that this is currently the only "active" mass speedmapping session.

 

I'm looking forward to it. I agree with Jimmy and Walter's sentiments.

That 24-hour late submissions rule is pretty sweet. I'll hop on the discord to keep an eye on these. I may even pick up my speed mapping habit again...

It's interesting that format hasn't been specified, actually. I've done a GZDoom UDMF speed-map once or twice, but they take a fair bit longer than two hours to do much with, unless you're saving time on lighting detail sectors by just using dynamic lights or decorative actors with dynamic lights that come pre-attached.

Any format? Okay, I'm hyped. Hope I'll find the time to participate. But that's the thing, if not, there's probably another session.

I definitely like the 24 hour late submission rule as most of the time when I want to participate in a speedmapping session, its always before or while I'm at work.

Hello folks, not long to go. A few extra rules regarding music/textures etc

 

1. New midis are permitted

2. New skies are permitted, no skyboxes just standard sky textures using either mapinfo or skytransfer (line type 190 for UDMF and 271 for Boom/mbf)

3. *Vanilla maps* can replace the default sky, although I would ask mappers to make a note of this when uploading.

4. Ideally if people can name sky textures after their user names, it would save any chance of name clashes etc.

5. No custom textures (with the exception of a new sky) this time around.

23 maps submitted within the 2 hour session, hopefully get a few more in the 24 hour 'amnesty'. Thanks everyone for making this a massively successful first session. All the maps were heaps of fun to play (yes even yours @Bdubzzz)

Definitely going to be doing this again next month!! Big thanks again to @Liberation for helping out with organising

Here's my late entry that I made in less than 2 hours give or take with 10 to 15 minutes of testing.

Well, I'm late to the party. Decided to make one but I kinda went 10 mins above 2 hours. Not too bad for a first speed map tho.
