For new nominations:

Sangelothi's NeoCore: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=23438&start=375#p1152155

DN3Doom by kipo: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=67864\

Spawn Path to Damnation by Dr. Cosmobyte: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=69893

Mildoom by grotski: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=70000

Finally, I nominate Christoph "Graf Zhal" Oelckers for the Epsi Lifetime Achievement Award. Love him or hate him, his work on ZDoom, GZDoom, and their respective scripting languages has been hugely influential in the Doom modding community, and GZDoom still remains one of the most used modern source ports.

Agreed. But maybe Randi Heit should deserve it equally aswell for creating ZDoom in the first place. Without ZDoom, GZDoom would likely have taken the route Graf originally thought of for it - Using a PrBoom core instead.

My nomination:

  • Randy87 and KGSWS for Doom ACE, a very recent discovery utitlizing Arbitrary Code Execution enabling fully custom code in Vanilla Doom. Want to run Snake? You can. Randy87 for providing the original Savegame hack and IDA databases, KGSWS for actively expanding upon it. It highlights how even almost 3 decades later, Doom still has new tricks up its sleeve, with Doom ACE effectively laying the groundworks for a whole new genre of Doom modding.
  • Its obviously not finished so not a Cacoward yet, but a runner up or an award for Technical Brilliance would definitely be fitting.

doom -1 is an above average megawad but the fact that it was made by so many people working with little communication is amazing (i did contribute a few times tho)
also treasure tech is a very fun gameplay mod with a WIP level pack being made for it

+1 for Doom -1 as well. Despite how much the project strayed away from its original scope and its rather questionable management at times the end result is surprisingly solid. Should have a honorable mention.

It just got its final release.

Mordeth award for Rescue of Earth because the man has been working on it for years. His wad may be far from finished, but he is a perfect example of how dedicated people in this community are. He posts new updates regularly, he listens to criticism, and he has a lot of passion and dedication in general.

We need to start honoring the mappers out there in the learning stage who are taking the time to listen, learn, and stick with it without being discouraged. The mappers who can get through that are the ones that will bring us great things in the future, we need to support them more.

A "Most Likely to Succeed Cacoward".

+Mutabor

A giant, complex level with lots of areas to explore, interesting "Urban Miasma" atmosphere, setpieces with reasonable difficulty, balanced gameplay adjustments, a small puzzle map as a bonus, all of these under the vanilla limitations. Very impressive.

I dislike the rather poor quality of the project overall, but I agree, the OP has some serious dedication to their project. They deserve a mention.

1. Embers of Armageddon (DoomKrakken)

+I've tried lots of DooM 2016 mods for Classic Doom and this one really stands out for me.

+Especially with the Eternal Addons (TheTmGuy), even tho some of the stuff is still raw
but at least we got the dash and working three equipments that comes from the OG game.

2. Space Hunter (Combine_Kegan)

+Well, it's Kegan.

+I just really like when someone made a really well made mods like from the sprites works, sound effect, etc. It really makes the gameplay even more fun.
I personally hope he get the chance to win the award someday.
