[EDF] Is EDF Weapon Reference viable for making gameplay mods?

I got bored and decided to try my hand on porting some of my personal favourite gameplay mods to this (fantastic) source port.
Is it viable using the language in the title though? From pickups to altfires, etc.

@Mordeth Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but this mean I can add custom HUDs into my mod right?
Also I see an option to bind a key to "weapon zoom" like in ZDoom.
