-recordfromto in GZDoom Demos?

Recommended Posts

I have started making some TA demos (for videos, not speedruns) on PRBoom+ and the -recordfromto and -skipsec commands are super helpful for this.  But I would also like to make these for some GZDoom specific maps.  -recordfromto doesn't seem to be a command line parameter in GZDoom, is there another command, or a way I can do this in GZDoom?

GZDoom has 0 TAS tools for demos. What you have is about what you got, so no, there is nothing like -recordfromto in prboom. You can record from saved games, however you need to keep the save with the demo as it's not stored as part of the demo either. You also need to permanently keep a copy of the executable as the demo will break the moment it's changed, as GZDoom does not care about demo compatibility to any degree.

Thanks, I'll see what I can do with recording from a save file.  As for demo compatibility in GZD, I'm not worried about that as I intend to record the demo to a video file then discard the actual demo.  I suppose I could always just edit a video to cut out deaths as well.
