Why Do UV-Max Runs Skip Over Items

Can confirm that Witchaven II, which tagged items which have carry limits as counting for the item score, is incredibly annoying in this regard since in practice it's almost impossible to get a full score without wasting some of your items and even then it's not always possible for reasons like cure poison potions only being usable if you are, in fact, poisoned.  And on top of that Witchaven II had an incentive beyond bragging rights to max things since it gave bonus XP at the end of the level for getting a good score.

when I started to do speedruns for my own I stumbled over uv max and I actually thought you need 100% items. first I had to learn what counts as monsters. then I tried it for a lot of maps (can stilll remember doing map24)... it was a pain. did not like it and maybe this is the reason why I still not like it today without the items.
