Well, that's an exaggeration but not by a lot, a lot of games co-opt RPG mechanics but it doesn't really mean the true spirit is there. Now the quests with different outcomes is an element of a proper RPG, but, that's also something we will not know the quality of scope off until the game is launched and that can be properly judged. And a game is what you spend most of the time doing ultimately. What concerns me is the open world aspect and the amount of driving in the game (I just don't care for that at all and find it frustrating padding in in every game I've ever played with it). To me that's why it looks like a Rockstar game, I'm worried the game will be padded out with a lot of stuff that will make me lose interest in what I'm doing entirely. From what I did play of The Witcher 3 there was a lot of needless filler content that wouldn't have been in the game if not to satisfy the open world structure which I do not think the game needed, 1 and 2 felt a lot more focused at least. But whilst I like the cyberpunk theme and ideas and style, I'm thinking this game isn't what I want, I certainly don't care about open world anymore and would like to get away from that. The game appears to be shorter than Witcher 3 (the main story that is) because apparently not a lot of people could finish it, and the map is smaller so perhaps you're not entirely out of luck yet. Redneckerz Posted September 22, 2020 2 hours ago, hybridial said: No, it looks like a Rockstar game because that's what they're showing. That's my conclusion from the videos. Except that is not only what they are showing. Its Cyberpunk by Mike Pondsmith. It has to portray a dark and grim world where the whole gender idea is defunct. You can't really establish any depth if you aren't highlighting all the lore and realms that form the dystopian Cyberpunk world. 2 hours ago, hybridial said: Maybe that's not representing the whole of it, maybe they will show more that makes it look more RPG, but what I will say is I was always more interested in this because its Cyberpunk, and not because of The Witcher, as I did not like any of The Witcher games that much, and the theme for this game is just of a lot more interest to me, but not in how they seem to be executing it based on the videos. Have you watched the Mission videos? You know, where they actively show stuff? 1 hour ago, sluggard said: Hacking, Classes, Cyberware with active, passive or triggered effects, skill trees, crafting, weapon upgrades, hand-crafted quests that can be approached in multiple ways, different outcomes and options depending on the selected lifepath....etc, Looks RPG enough to me. Exactly. It seems Hybridial is going off on recent videos and not the more indepth stuff that was shown earlier. 35 minutes ago, hybridial said: Much of that stuff is in every game now regardless if they're an RPG or not. But yet here you are, judging the game and comparing it to a Rockstar game and calling it a bore. It really feels like you have to watch the indepth stuff first that was shown earlier because you are going on this tangent that has very little to do with the actual content of the game. 35 minutes ago, hybridial said: But whilst I like the cyberpunk theme and ideas and style, I'm thinking this game isn't what I want, I certainly don't care about open world anymore and would like to get away from that. From all the opinions i have read from you it more seems that: You generally don't like most games, or you find something by comparison which makes you like them less The few games that do pass your filter are sixth generation games (PS2/Xbox) Habedashery against the vast majority of games out there seems to be a primary reaction from your end Could it be that you are putting up an impossible standard or that you are simply done with games in general? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
hybridial Posted September 22, 2020 My interests seem to be more and more removed from the AAA part of the industry, at least. I actually was really interested in probably 80% of the games shown at Realms Deep, and I do have a bunch of games on my wishlist. They're spiritually of an older school mentality, I think is fair to say and I think I'm happy enough to just stick to that. I mean, part of it is if I wanted to play Cyberpunk at all, buying a console or upgrading my PC would be a necessity, so the question is is that worth it for like, this game, maybe Baldur's Gate 3, unless they do a really good job optimising it, or just not bother and save the money for a while longer. The game's production has been long, but I remember back during their first announcement in what, 2014, I think? I was interested in the idea then. They probably announced it way too early as that was before the game even went into production, and here 6 years later it's a very different situation and I can't say I have any real hype for it. I do think having any driving in it is a bad idea, that would have been a turn off back then and it certainly still is now. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

snapshot Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) Latest NCW, Man I can't wait to get my hands on it already, it has so much character. It's just cartoony enough to be charming and unique, but the serious overtones are awesome. Full cgi trailer with the bits that were shown in previous trailer are here aswell, and a close-up look at cg Male V before getting implants. kalaeth Posted October 16, 2020 the Porsche 911 turbo, one of my all time favorite cars and that sound, so tasty! (I'll likely never play this game, neither do I have the computer / console for it nor the intention to buy one for it but.. it does look nice!) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

seed Posted October 27, 2020 At this rate, certainly. I'm starting to doubt the quality of the final product... there's only so much you can delay a product before it ends in development hell... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

NoXion Posted October 27, 2020 I would be happier if delays meant less or no crunch. Unfortunately management seems to think delays are a reason for stuffing even more crunch in. For fuck's sake. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Murdoch Posted October 27, 2020 Oh no, more gaming melodrama!! People proclaiming they have cancelled preorders as if anyone cares!! Honestly, if you did not anticipate the possibility that there might be further delays to the release of one of the most complex games in history that's coming out right on the cusp of the release of new consoles then you really need a lesson on the complexities of game design. That said, CDPR themselves should also know by now themselves to shy away from absolutes when it comes to release dates. It is setting yourself up for disaster especially in these days when if a developer so much passes gas inappropriately it will become news and people will start beating on you. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

snapshot Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) It's been wild / funny watching people do a 180 on CDPR because of this small delay lol, "hurr durr fail game", but idc as long as it means the game is gonna come out in a better shape, rather have a good game than a rushed mess. They forget that TW3 was also in a similar situation for some reason. I doubt they even cared about the game to begin with. Looks like this delay happened because of current gen console ports. Biodegradable Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) The only thing I'm critical of CDPR is the crunch as it's unethical and does nothing but torture developers. The mainstream gaming industry is in dire need of re-evaluating itself, stop pushing for unrealistic deadlines for the sake of its unsustainable profit margins and treat people properly. You're not going to be able to make decent games that everyone will want to play if you destroy the physical and mental health of the creative people you exploit to make them happen. CDPR are the symptom of a bigger problem that the industry refuses to address. Make deadlines flexible and give people the right to work within their means. If a game has to take a bit longer, so be it. But the delay should happen based on either circumstances beyond their control or the devs believe they simply require more time to make the best game possible. Deadlines can be a great motivator, but when it comes to a creative endeavor, publishers should be more understanding that you can't rush art, nor should you violate human rights just so you can make an extra billion dollars. snapshot Posted October 31, 2020 (edited) It's common knowledge by now that crunch is common in all industries, it's a joint venture and is to be expected because they choose to work there, don't know if there's any other solution to that besides....not working there. employees aren't usually the ones to decide how the company runs, usually anyways so unless there's like some sort of big strike among the employees I don't know if much is going to change. I highly doubt there's any chance this game is getting delayed any further, investors are not pleased and the backlash is surely going to make them think twice before they even attempt to delay it again. Plus the date just seems too perfect for them to pass up, just right before xmas so as with other AAA games expect the usual day 1 and post launch updates.
