Chow Yun Thin Posted January 25, 2020 You buy Ultimate Doom on Steam or GoG. It's even on sale at Steam. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2280/Ultimate_Doom/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

DuckReconMajor Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) If you run it through Steam, it will play in DoxBox, which is technically even more 'original' than Chocolate Doom. But when you buy the game, Zdoom and I think Chocolate Doom will automatically pick them up out of your steam folder and once you Install Ultimate Doom via Steam your Chocolate Doom will launch into the full game. i.e. buy it on steam, hit install, once it installs start up Chocolate Doom and see what happens when you try to launch Shores of Hell Edited January 25, 2020 by DuckReconMajor 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Inferno2539 Posted January 25, 2020 i bought steam doom and launched chocolate doom and it still say the same message. Is there an extra step i am missing to run it on chocolate doom? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rainne Posted January 25, 2020 The WAD should be in your Steam folder. If it's anything like mine (and assuming you're on Windows), it should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ Then probably "Ultimate Doom" or something to that effect. Look for "doom.wad". Copy that file to wherever you've installed Chocolate Doom. Then try again. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
unerxai Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) You don't even need to move the iwads with Chocolate Doom if you installed them from Steam. Open Notepad and write "chocolate-doom.exe -iwad doom.wad" then save it as doom.cmd (make sure you're not saving it as a txt) and save it to the Chocolate Doom folder. Then run the cmd. Well at least that's how I do it and has always worked fine so far. EDIT: Could it be that he has both doom1.wad and doom.wad in his drive so chocolate-doom.exe prioritizes doom1.wad? Just like it prioritizes doom2.wad when you don't specify anything. Edited January 25, 2020 by unerxai 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) Yeah that could be it. If I have only DOOM.WAD in the chocolate doom folder it launches that but if I take it out it launches DOOM2. I assume the same would happen with the shareware iwad. Try moving DOOM1.WAD outside of your chocolate doom folder, and/or putting DOOM.WAD into the folder @Inferno2539 Edited January 25, 2020 by DuckReconMajor 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
