I also added brutal doom v21 to the game for extra challenge.

not cool at all , your first time playing doom and you already add a mod that ruins all doom mechanics ?

Do you want an extra challenge , play it on UV-FAST or nightmare , do a pistol start run , no save run , keyboard only (no mouse)

I am now going to mourn the loss of daisy by uploading my blind playthrough of thy flesh consumed with brutal doom.

Whats the point of a mod that turns the game into a modern generic fps with grenades, freeloock  , jumping ,crouching , sniper weapons.... and that adds one of the most ridiculous ways of killing a demon ...."the glory kills" ..."thanks" to brutal doom they added glory kills to doom 2016

What @Super Mighty G said. It continues to amaze me how in the Doom circles, one of the oldest modding communities in all of gaming, we keep seeing such elitist behavior and shunning of specific mods, just because it isn't ones personal definition of "good".

If someone wants to play Doom with all Chex Quest skins, who the hell is anyone to get up in arms and bitch about how its not Doom? And if you're going to get huffy about people enjoying Brutal Doom specifically, well I guess that means you hate John Romero too, whose has gone on record saying he rather liked it/ was impressed with it.

@Oppo1021 you are a braver man than I for having gone through the adventure with touch controls! I've been thinking of grabbing it for my phone for a while. Is it legit much fun, or just a challenge in your estimation?

I'd just like to note that it's always newer members that rush into threads like these just to bash brutal doom. The meme is dead folks just be happy new people are experiencing this game we all love.

To OP: grats, and cool to see another Delta Touch player! Gl on future wads, have fun above all else, and welcome!

It should go without saying that a site called Doomworld is where people are welcome to post their experiences with the game, whatever systems they may be playing on or mods they may be playing with.

If you don't want to read such things, feel free to visit another forum instead.

Congratulation, @Oppo1021! Achieving that in a cell phone is quite a feat!
Now you can try Doom 2 ;)
Also, I love your profile picture. Just charming and funny!

PD: don't be offended by those who said intolerant things. Keep playing and have all the fun you want!

Just to clear up some things. 1: I have been playing doom for 2 years now but I had never finished a doom game. 2: My first experience with doom was the GBA port. 3: My PC is so slow it cannot run zdoom or gzdoom at all. 4: yesterday was the first time I had played inferno. 5: That cyberdemon was HUGE.

Anyways thanks for the support and I am glad to be part of the doom community.

Doom 2 UV brutal v21 coming soon.

Oh, coming from the good old GBA! Nice!

About the source port problem, check this out:

Doom Retro, my friend, vanilla experience enhanced a little to be more refined and whats best is that all the little changes made are toggleable in the config file to taste that vanilla flavor. It has a launcher that let you select iwads or pwads and it one of the sourceports that is constantly updated with new possibilities to make it even better.

And for taking the first step into the modding community, here are a list of some excellent pwads that don't deviate much from the original Doom experience:
Demonfear (load it with this MIDI pack for an amazing experience).
Doom 2: The way Id Did
Doom 2 Reloaded

Icarus: Alien Vanguard

Revolution! (with MIDI pack is even better)

2002: A Doom Odyssey (needs doom.wad)

Crimson Canyon

Congestion 1024

Wonderful Doom (needs doom.wad)

Whispers of Satan
Reverie
No End in Sight (needs doom.wad)

And when you tasted all of the vanilla flavor, just try this ones, as they are enhanced and meant for experienced players (hence, they are pretty hard, but are some of the best out there):

Hell Revealed

ETERNAL DooM

Alien Vendetta

Scythe
Vile Flesh
Kama Sutra
Plutonia Revisited (needs Plutonia.WAD)
Back to Saturn X EP.1
TNT: Revilution (needs TNT.wad

STRUGGLE: Antaresian Legacy

Eviternity

Also, if you don't know about this project, take a look at this megawads. Its an ongoing project to make some free IWADS for everyone:
FreeDoom I & II & DM

With Doom Retro you can play all of this from the get go.
So don't waste more time searching around.
Go and play!
Rip and Tear!

;) Have fun my friend! Doom Retro  runs in everything! But if you are hungry for more eye candy, well, you can try  LZDoom, is a version of GZDoom repurposed for old PC or with not soo much graphical power.

Congratulations @Oppo1021!

I hope you enjoyed yourself during your run, because that's what matters, not the elitist gatekeeping (to borrow Super Mighty G's word) of people saying you should do X instead of Y.

I'm actually somewhat surprised that no one commented on not beating on UV. Not that I care one way or another what difficulty you play on, but there are definitely members of the community that do.

Playing Brutal Doom does not count as playing Doom. Both are very different from each other. I have played Brutal Doom a little and i can say it's very far from real, original Doom. However it's your choice how to play.

Let me guess, you've been a fan (as in, claim to be a fan but is actually a millenial or gen Z) since 90s?

Nice gatekeeping

If you liked playing through in Brutal Doom then I'd say it would be worth a shot replaying it with Project Brutality to mix it up a little and not just add more challenge but even more additions like weapons and enemy behavior to the experience.

If that experience runs dry then I'd suggest something entirely different like this mod

https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=24974

Which replaces and randomizes enemies, weapons and items for an endlessly unique experience (doesn't work alongside Brutal Doom  However), if you're looking to get real crazy you can also have Oblige (link http://oblige.sourceforge.net ) generate a random mapset too!

Have fun.

I have played vanilla doom through Knee deep in the dead and the shores of hell and I can say that I like both equally.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried to play project brutality but on the second map of and doom wad I play including the iwads it drops to 2fps. As for oblige I use it occasionally and I very much like the maps it makes. 667 shuffle is very much a fun mod for wads like maps of chaos and oblige.

Real nice guys. You want to turn your gatekeeping down a few notches?

i cant reply to a PUBLIC comment on a public forum giving MY opinion on OPs comment because i'm a "gatekeeper" but you can tell me what to say ? ... mmm seems fair i guess....(not)

Nice gatekeeping

well considering the game was released on the 90's....then yes , and considering i was born in 1987 and started playing doom at one of my friends house in 1996 and then on my on pc in 1997 then yes again , and last but not least considering that millenial are the ones born between 1981 and 1999 or 2000 , then there goes another yes to your question , too bad that i'm not an older guy , but i was not given the chance when to born .

So seriously , i've only replied to op's comment , didn't insult him , say anything wrong about him , just a comment and i have 2 people that are trying to tell me what shuold i say but  gets offended if i make a comment about someone's way of playing doom ??? O_o

i thought this was a community were someone could throw their opinions (as long as they are respectful of course) without being censored ...im starting to guess that i was wrong , hopefully i'm not

Good for you. Still doesnt excuse being a gatekeeper pushing the ""right"", way to play Doom.

Sorry to tell you but modding is just as part of Doom's DNA as the IWADs  based content themeselves.

You're not being censored, we are doing the same thing you are buddy. Giving opinions.

Well l got good news for you. There are many other source ports available that are much less demanding. Apart from zdoom family port, there are other really good ports such as PrBoom+, Eternity Engine and Crispy Doom. They are much less demanding and can even run on ancient 2005-ish hardware.

Even within the zdoom family ports, there are ports that support ancient hardware such as Zdoom LE and Zandronum.

I am trying to make a project that adds a weapon upgrade tree. Can zandronum use DECORATE?

Yes. Zandronum supports DECORATE (heck even Brutal Doom is made to run with Zandronum). Though there might be a few DECORATE features that zdoom/gzdoom have that Zandronum may not have.
