So seriously , i've only replied to op's comment , didn't insult him , say anything wrong about him , just a comment and i have 2 people that are trying to tell me what shuold i say but  gets offended if i make a comment about someone's way of playing doom ??? O_o

i thought this was a community were someone could throw their opinions (as long as they are respectful of course) without being censored ...im starting to guess that i was wrong , hopefully i'm not

Your initial comment does make it seems like you are being harsh to the OP. I am also an anti-Brutal Doom (and its descendants) guy, but people are free to play Doom however they wanted.

i cant reply to a PUBLIC comment on a public forum giving MY opinion on OPs comment because i'm a "gatekeeper" but you can tell me what to say ? ... mmm seems fair i guess....(not)

well considering the game was released on the 90's....then yes , and considering i was born in 1987 and started playing doom at one of my friends house in 1996 and then on my on pc in 1997 then yes again , and last but not least considering that millenial are the ones born between 1981 and 1999 or 2000 , then there goes another yes to your question , too bad that i'm not an older guy , but i was not given the chance when to born .

All you have to do is not be a dick. It's not hard.

Also, to OP - Congrats! When you finish E4, be sure to move on to Doom 2!
How was the experience of playing (Brutal) Doom on mobile?

Intense! You have to play with a controller that doubles as a screen so my big thumbs get in the way. And there's all of the little buttons. Red O and red triangle do nothing, orange bullets is reload, green fist is kick, blue thing on top of the blue button over the green kick button is flashlight, very top right red button is grenade, bottom buttons are roll left and right, big red is shoot small blue directly above green fist is alt-fire, pink button next to big red is use. Sorry if I went into too much detail.

I think Doom 64 Retribution works correctly on Delta Touch, check that out, too!

Also, when it comes to spicing up Doom, I like the mod "Final Doomer+". It adds new weapon sets and you can choose one of them. I like it because it keeps the monster behaviour the same, so it's like playing vanilla with new weapons!

Hmm... Looks cluttered.

I would recommend you cleaning up unnecessary buttons/organizing them. Playing PRBoom+ (a source port for Doom) in Delta Touch with the default touch controls alone have already fucked my brain up :v

come on, give him a break. let him play whatever he wants.

It's just... I wouldn't say playing the first time with a mod is the best way to go about it. I don't have anything against Brutal Doom generally speaking, but playing the first time ever with it? Ehhhh. Kinda ruined that classic first experience you know? That's all I'm saying.

well, he didn't say that it's the first time he has ever played doom, he only said that he finished the game for the first time

While I don't advocate using any mods on your first playthrough of a game and am admittedly slightly biased against Brutal Doom, I'll still extend my congratulations to the OP.

Good job on finishing UDoom ;) .

You should give Sigil, Doom 2, Final Doom, Doom 64 as well as some community mods a spin too.

Also everyone, stop bashing others for how they choose to play their games. You can have an opinion but you don't have to be a dick over something that doesn't even concern or affect you in any capacity.

This whole thread is essentially about nothing, they just found a reason to be condescending (no I'm not against using mods so play it however you want)

I really expected more from some people here, for a community with such a strong modding scene we just jump on people who uses mods without knowing the full context of their history with the game.

I have played vanilla doom through Knee deep in the dead and the shores of hell and I can say that I like both equally.

If you would please read the top quote you would see this was my first time BEATING the game NOT PLAYING IT. I have played doom for 2 years now but I completed it 2 days ago

The unnecessary buttons are for other mods like RLA and prodoomer. You can't remove buttons on a 1 mod and load up another with the buttons there so there are useless buttons on mods that require less buttons.

Well l got good news for you. There are many other source ports available that are much less demanding. Apart from zdoom family port, there are other really good ports such as PrBoom+, Eternity Engine and Crispy Doom. They are much less demanding and can even run on ancient 2005-ish hardware.

Even within the zdoom family ports, there are ports that support ancient hardware such as Zdoom LE and Zandronum.

Even zandronum and lzdoom don't work so I am stuck making vanilla maps

You can try Doom Retro, it can play vanilla stuff and projects that use Boom/MBF features. Or Crispy Doom, which plays vanilla. I have also created mods for these two ports for smooth weapons and smooth monsters. These have double the vanilla resolution and look retro.

And there's prboom+ of course which can play Boom stuff at high resolution if you want that.

I use crispy on PC it just takes a while to send a wad from my PC to my tablet with delta touch to test wads with DECORATE.

Oh, you want to map for ZDoom? Well, yeah, then you need some version of it that works. Wait, Eternity has DECORATE support, have you tried that?

No, does it need more computing power than lzdoom?

I am not sure, it is a different codebase, I think it is lighter than all ZDoom forks.

Get the stable 4.00 from there or one of the recent builds here

https://devbuilds.drdteam.org/eternity/

Depending on whether your OS is x64 or 32bit/x86, download the proper one.

ZDoom should run there, unless you haven't installed any graphics driver.

For the hardware renderer OpenGL 1.2 for ZDoom LE and 2.0 for ZDoom32 and LZDoom. For software they should run even on DirectDraw.

GZDoom OpenGL 3.3 for hardware and Direct3D9 on Vista for software.

My PC can run gzdoom but it is at such a low frame rate it is unplayable.

Have you tried ZDoom LE (do not confuse it with LZdoom).

Nice OP. I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago, brutal doom my first run-through. I heard afterwords that the "gentleman's" way of playing was on ultra-violence vanilla with no mouse look, so went back and did that. It surprised me how much of a cakewalk it honestly was after completing brutal doom.. Still a blast though. You should give it a shot.
