Mr.S Retro Posted February 1, 2020 So I myself use slade and the one problem I have is my ancient pc cannot run any zdoom ports faster than 4fps. I make mods using decorate and was wondering if there was a way to make decorate script and insert it into a pk3 or wad on mobile. The way I am currently modding is using slade on my pc then using bluetooth to send the wad to my tablet and testing it on my tablet. It takes about 20 minutes just to test it and if it fails back to the pc and another 20 minute wait. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Diabolución Posted February 1, 2020 I think you should find an alternative and faster way of transfering your WADs, such as connecting the tablet to the PC by using the USB cable, because there is no Slade3 for Android, as far I am aware. There is DeuTex, available for the terminal emulator Termux, but it is not exactly a friendly program... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mr.S Retro Posted February 1, 2020 I'll try USB and see how fast it is. 15 minutes ago, Diabolución said: I think you should find an alternative and faster way of transfering your WADs, such as connecting the tablet to the PC by using the USB cable, because there is no Slade3 for Android, as far I am aware. TheNoob_Gamer Posted February 2, 2020 You could try installing a Win XP VM on your phone and then downloading Slade on it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I strongly advise against moving the issue to something else (In this case, Mobile). There are no level editors of Doom on mobile (There was, if i remember, a viewer/model viewer, but that's it). 4 hours ago, TheNoob_Gamer said: You could try installing a Win XP VM on your phone and then downloading Slade on it. The performance overhead this introduces, i imagine, is not something i would suggest on doing. Running an x86 OS, in a VM, and then running Slade on hardware that is a decidely different ISA (ARM), again, this is moving the problem instead of fixing it. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Gez Posted February 3, 2020 SLADE's interface is entirely designed for mouse and keyboard, and it expects a mouse with a clickable scrollwheel. Some windows have a minimum size, too. All this would make the interface very hard to adapt to Android; it wouldn't just be a question of managing to get it to run on a tablet. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

I run LZDoom 3.84 with the OpenGL renderer on a significantly older rig at 1280x1024. It is a bit choppy, but it suffices. I have to mention that because my rig does not support OpenGL3, i run the OpenGL2 legacy renderer. Did some digging. The AMD E2-9000 is an entry level Stoney Ridge processor for use in tablets and entry level laptops. Its a dual core, and its also an APU, meaning it has integrated graphics - In this case a Radeon R2 with 128 shader units. It isn't amazing, but it does support modern OpenGL features. Despite being a tablet processor intended for lower power consumption, the processor generation is atleast 4 times more modern then what i kick with, so performance per core should atleast be rougly similar. Is it an idea to post this on the ZDoom forums with the inclusion of that screenshot? I could help you there (and others!) better. Other things you could try out: How is your GZDoom CFG? That way it can be determined if you are running the OpenGL3 and above renderpath or lower. So if you are going to make a post at the ZDoom forums, please include that file (extension .cfg) as an attachment there. Check your GPU drivers. How does LZDoom perform? How does ZDoom 2.8.1 perform? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Apologies for this being off-topic, but this makes me sad, though also is interesting to know. Will be cool when editors are eventually ported over to mobile platforms. I wonder if we'll see that first or multi-user editors... both seem equally unlikely but also equally the next big step for these to go. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mr.S Retro Posted February 12, 2020 I have fixed the issue I just had to reinstall LZDoom and now I can test mods. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
