Beat 1000 Records Month (Feb 7 to Mar 11)

There was interest in another demo month, with yet another and exciting flavor! Using DSDA 3's improved fancy technology, Kraflab has generated a list of 1000 current records in the database completely randomly. The goal is to beat as many of these as possible by the end of this month. There should be plenty of variety of demos and WADs for everybody!

 

Rules:

• 5 points for being the first to beat one of the demos on the list
• If there is further competition on an already beaten run, the final record holder will receive 1 point.
• In order to qualify, you must beat the original demo by at least a second (whether or not this is possible :)). Example: 8.97 over 9.00 qualifies but not 9.00 over 9.03.
• If there is a demo in the spreadsheet that is NOT a record, beating it will not qualify, so please check just to be safe (e.g., if there's faster NM100 runs than NM-Speed, faster Nomo100 than nomo, etc.). Such demos will be replaced with others if found.
  • Please also double check that the previous demo is in fact a valid record (e.g., doesn't miss secrets, monsters). Also, please ensure the category and other relevant information on it are listed correctly.

This thread was a great idea! I'm new here and these records will be mostly hard for me, but I'm happy to be able to participate in the competition.

I figured I'd stick to maps / categories I'm already familiar with, so this entry was quite easy seeing as it's very close to UV Max, where I had already gotten 30secs before:

Only 23 attempts; I was lucky I guess. On UV Max it took me 1000 attempts to get down to 30 secs. Crazy.

BTW, I notice that four of the demos are 0:00. I know you mentioned that some of the times might prove unbeatable by a full second, but in these cases it is a physical impossibility.

Yeah, I guess those are effectively unimprovable. Oh, well, they're certainly not the only demos on that list that won't see another second, so I think that's just part of the randomness to this event.

A few route optimizations and other improvements over the previous record. Was fun to wall-run for the first time. Still much to improve for sure.

 

PS - A quick question: in my previous post in this thread I uploaded a zip file with a mistake in the text file that I only noticed later.

Is it OK to edit that post and re-upload a zip with the corrected text file? Or is it NOT OK, because editing gets in the way of the script that detects demos in this forum?
