Cacodemon345 Posted February 16, 2020 I would say the ones who screamed "Is it compatible with BD?" are the typical normie gamer people who will always move to the next big thing. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

No jumping, crouching, mouselook, that sort of thing. You break out the mods for the second time through. I don't agree. I think mouselook is a must (so my opinion changed a bit since I made the topic about portable Doom). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Solmyr Posted February 16, 2020 Why is this thread still active? I get Brutal Doom is an important part of the Doom community' history, but Sgt Mark IV had his ego stroked enough times for a lifetime. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
CyberDreams Posted February 16, 2020 About Brutal Doom: I don't have a problem with it. I don't play it anymore but i don't have a problem with it. The first and last time i played it was around 2015 with the starter pack and i really enjoyed it. It got me back into Doom so much so that i made an account here the next year but then i started playing Doom more "vanilla" (even with infinitely tall actors) aka i'll use Doom (strict) when i use GZDoom ect. But that's just me. If you enjoy it, than so be it. I also don't really like using freelook when i play so i don't like playing Brutal Doom for that reason as well since you have to use freelook. I prefer just to use horizontal mouse aiming when i play Doom. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Hypnotik Posted February 16, 2020 Totally agreed. Brutal doom is cool when your jamming to metal, and looking forward to all the GIBS!!! But then after awhile, it gets old, and it just doesn't satisfy the Doom craving. So you just end up playing vanilla. lol. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Better have some weather of positive on a controversial mod. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Redneckerz Posted February 16, 2020 10 hours ago, Solmyr said: Why is this thread still active? Because Brutal Doom is often the first thing younger players experience + People do not use the search function to find out why a certain question has been asked 100 previous times (rougly) already or to figure out why BD and Mark are both a polarizing product and mod author, respectively. Thus these threads reappear from time to time. And to make a disclaimer for it would bring more attention to the mod than it already has.* *Similarly, me responding to you also brings validity to BD so in a negative manner, we are both stroking an ego here - and its neither one of us. 3 hours ago, Cacodemon345 said: At least this thread isn't a dumpster-fire. The doom community plays hosts to a dozen or so source ports, a dozen or so Megawads, a dozen or so authors and a dozen or so controversies, but a lot of recent threads tend to revolve around questions that have been given an answer many many times already. Ideally, there should be some kind of prologue to the community, detailing the most known ports, authors, mods and controversies, just so that at the very least when a similar sounding thread comes along, one can throw the book at them for not reading that in the first place. Lets call it Entryway similar to how the DoomWiki Entryway is set up - An index of indexes of some sort.[/brainfart[] 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

ifreakinlovedoom208 Posted December 15, 2022 My first experience with Doom is the rerelease Doom 1 and 2 (yknow the bethesda ones) A year later, I got back to Doom using a questionable and definietly morally wrong way to play it on pc. (First source port is GZDoom, btw) After a week or so, I tried Brutal Doom. Seriously, without going off topic, I'll just give it a decent 6/10. It's fun, yeah, and it is fast-paced (my type of game), but it gets boring after like , what? 19 maps or so. It is satisfying to watch an enemy getting shot in the face, though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
TheMagicMushroomMan Posted December 15, 2022 "Man, there are so many old threads on Doomworld! Which one should I bump? Preferably a topic that lends itself to some fun and lighthearted banter between members..." [fifteen minutes later] "Oh, I know! I'll bump My opinion on Brutal Doom!" Spoiler No really, @ifreakinlovedoom208 please check to make sure a thread isn't too old before bumping, unless there's a really good reason to perform necromancy. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
