How to keep the sectors lit up when moving the cursor away from a linedef? GZDoom Builder

Dimon12321

Question

When I point at a linedef, a handful of violet arrows show which sectors are linked with the linedef's action. Sometimes I see them within a screen, but sometimes (usually in Boom maps) there are some sectors/linedefs that are placed outside the map and I need to scroll out the map without moving the cursor and look at those small tiny sectors which also may have their own actions and they point at a different place as well.

That makes things really confusing, but all I need is just to read the map and figure out what exactly will happen if I cross this or that linedef.

So, what I'm thinking of is, is it possible to keep the sectors lit up (and the respective violet arrows) after I move the cursor away from a linedef?

In addition to the answers above, for joined sectors you can also select the sector in question and hit "e" to edit selection, which will allow you to move the cursor anywhere you'd like while still keeping the sector(s) highlighted, which is useful for reading maps when a sector within the map is joined with a dummy/control sector far outside the map.

  1. Take note of the tag (46 in your case)
  2. Go into "Find and Replace Mode" (default hotkey: F3)
  3. Select "Sector Tag" as search type, enter the tag you're looking for
  4. Press the "Find" button

Best way I've found is to zoom out until getting it on-screen, then pay attention to where it goes, remember the tag, go in sector mode, highlight the destination sector, and then zoom back in.
