JadingTsunami Posted March 14, 2020 I would just cheat before I got to that point. I'm playing to have fun. When the fun runs out, there are always cheats to move things along. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
VGA Posted March 14, 2020 1 hour ago, roadworx said: the world's greatest disappointment Haha, yeah, can you imagine playing dozens of maps wondering what the final boss would be and you get ... a wall with an opening you shoot rockets in? Doom 1 introduced new bosses all 3 times in its 3 episodes! Badass bosses, not gimmicky holes in walls! They could literally just create a dimly lit arena/maze and have you fight 2 Spectre-Cyberdemons and 12 Spectres. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Firedust Posted March 15, 2020 Limbo. When I was a kid, finding my way around that teleporter maze seemed impossible and it took me what seemed like an eternity to beat (almost quit my e3 playthrough because of that). Also, I love how I used to think it was an absolutely MASSIVE level... Childhood impressions differ so much from a grown-up's, huh? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mortrixs19 Posted March 15, 2020 Today I only Enjoy Episodes 1 and 2 of Ultimate Doom, the hell levels are horrible (except E3M3 maybe). It's a shame though, Sandy was only given 10 weeks to do all the maps his maps in doom 2 are way better. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BluePineapple72 Posted March 15, 2020 Map 21 TNT. I’ve been trying to give this WAD a chance, but it’s just not engaging enough for me to try and force my way through. Does it get any better, or should I just give up? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Andromeda Posted March 15, 2020 It gets a little bit worse, though MAP22, MAP26 and MAP28 are worth playing at least. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Horus Posted March 15, 2020 I agree on 26, but 28 is too Doom II copycat for my taste 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
General Roasterock Posted March 15, 2020 Pistol starting Map 08 of Plutonia is horrendous: most of the beginning fights are long distance when you only have a Super Shotgun, boring sloughs through Manucbi, the dozen chaingunners that spawn on top of each other at the blue key, the horrible stairs in the pain floor, all leading up to two arch-viles with paper thin cover. The entire level is a drag, only for the ending viles to stomp you in two hits, very reflective of the entire wad. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Mangcubus Posted March 17, 2020 That one map in H2H X-mas with the ear-rapingly loud note in the middle of the song, pissed me off. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DOEL Posted March 17, 2020 Only thing that comes to mind is map 24 of Hell Revealed but I was a scrub and playing with Project Brutality at the time 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Arbys550 Posted March 18, 2020 Dimensions map03. I didn't quit out of frustration, though, I just didn't want to do it. I'm embarrassed to say it was only on HMP too. I had previously played through it on HNTR and it was that fight with the archviles in a box, where you were only safe hugging the corners. I remembered not liking that fight on HNTR, and I decided to stop for that day. I never went back to it, but I think I should muster the courage to try it again soon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BigBoy91 Posted March 18, 2020 i pretty much ragequit every session, so it's hard to say. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NuMetalManiak Posted March 18, 2020 At the point I'm in the only wad that has made me quit out of sheer annoyance was Urania. I stopped at MAP13 though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MFG38 Posted March 18, 2020 Two that I recall off the top of my head are Eviternity MAP15 and Alien Vendetta MAP26. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
VGA Posted March 18, 2020 I just rage-quit on PSX Final Doom on the Master Levels map Subterra. It is a shitty, convoluted map and to top it off I fell in an inescapable pit (in a bridge thing with acid on each side) This is a shit-tier map, really... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DOOMSLAYER93 Posted March 18, 2020 OK, hear me out. I usually quit at E1M4 because it's kinda boring. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
spineapple tea Posted March 19, 2020 Most of episodes 2 and 3 are boring as shit. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Wagi Posted March 19, 2020 I don't remember the map number, but it was an early Hell Revealed 2 map in a gray brick city. There's a part where a wall opens up, revealing a massive, coverless rectangular room with a gazillion monsters, including Arch Viles which storm the city unobstructed (because no cover) and revive literally everything that you've killed up to that point. You basically have to hole yourself up into a building and just let them approach and kill them off one by one. It's tedious and made me need to quit for a while out of boredom. I know slaughter maps can be bullshit but that was like jokewad-level bullshit. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
D4NUK1 Posted March 19, 2020 Running Late Map 6, Oil Rig. Just got stuck circle running at the map, but it's really gooood! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
