I don't want Doom Eternal to be Team Fortress 2.

And once again telling people to turn off a feature will never be acceptable.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've read. This happens all the time and people do not complain. Don't like motion blur? Turn it off. Don't like blood? Turn it off. Don't like the MUSIC? Turn it off.

Let's use Dark Souls as an example. Invasions are the main multiplayer mechanic in that game and a collection of people hate it. Those people play offline so they can be immersed in the world uninterrupted. If you don't want to go that far you can opt to play the game hollowed and still find messages on the ground. An option to IGNORE the main multiplayer feature is built into the game as a mechanic. From my perspective this is no different.

I am not so sure about that but whatever.

Apparently from what I heard at QC2019:  Demons spawn in certain places and are able to navigate all over the maps with their own portal hubs. This might of changed recently though.

As for as just turning invasions off .. how about a option to for the players to limit skins or better yet certain skins in their campaign?  It really doesn't hurt anyone.

Fair enough. An isolated "disable skins" option isn't out there as far as features go, and who knows...maybe that's something that will make it in when they enable Invasion. I suppose it'll depend on where the conversations go post release. We already know they intend to do a lot of stuff for Eternal after D day anyhow.

Not really.  There is a huge difference between tweaking setting versus a entire game mode.  But whatever I will never see that as a solution.

You don't get to decide what people post or care about. Chan-tier shitposts like yours are infinitely worse than any negative discussion about the game.

There really isn't in this particular case. The only thing putting it on the menu does is make it convenient to turn off.

Can I also address how we know practically nothing about how this mode will work and are arguing about it? I'd also like to argue about how the next Doom game shouldn't have tap dancing Revenants.

And you know this feature is not already in this unreleased game how, exactly? And how do you know it might not be added later based on community feedback if it's not there to start with?

Giving players the ability to turn off custom skins for player-controlled demons in Invasion mode would seem to be rather trivial in technical terms. I honestly don't understand what the fighting's all about.

So, you're complaining about skins, but the option to turn of skins in a localised way that doesn't change your gameplay experience at all is unacceptable? I'm not quite sure why I'm bothering to write this post but you seem like you can't be reasoned with due to your display of such immensely flawed logic.

no zemini meant turning off invasion because of non-immersive skins

I think he meant just turning off skins instead of the entire mode, they might add it if it becomes a big deal breaker which I highly doubt, and who knows maybe the option is going to be there when the mode is released, or maybe demon skins won't work at all with it.

He's complaining about an unreleased game. The feature he desires may already be there. The custom skins may not even appear in mp games. We don't know, and no one here can do anything about it anyway. His entire argument is pointless.

Actually custom skins are for both invasions and battle mode.  This has been confirmed.

OK but I will say one last time and then I am out. The game is unreleased. You do not know what options are available in it. The option you crave so desperately to disable custom skins may already be in there. Here's a wild and crazy suggestion - wait till the game comes out before you criticise it. Then if it does not have that option, maybe contact id and ask if that the option could be added in a future patch instead of crying about it like a brat on a forum that none of the development team reads.

Wild and crazy ideas I know, but in these desperate times sometimes wild and crazy is all we have.

I was never really crying like a brat, I think you just had a bad reaction to my arguments.  Just offering constructive criticism which is always welcomed by the development team.  Guess what, they are lurking here right now.

Are they, though?

For sure. Hugo Martin has mentioned the Doom reddit as well as Doomworld in at least one interview I listened to, and he said he reads basically all the stuff people write about 2016 and such.

Provide a source please.

Well first of all ... what other purpose would the skins serve then?  Just something to look at in the menu?

But No, I am not going to find a source to provide proof that water is wet.

You have no argument then. You said it was confirmed then refuse to provide a source of said confirmation.

The custom skins are obviously for Battlemode, which was shown in a presentation not too long ago. And Invasion will be a mode that will be introduced a bit down the line, and I do not see any logical argument against the player monsters having skins. I mean, in that E3 stuff where they showed invasion first one of the invading players was called "D00t76" and was a Revenant. There really is no reason to think that the skins wont be usable in any of the multiplayer modes.

And of course the player can probably play with whatever skin they want in singleplayer as well, so they might be Doomicorn when invaded.

A fair point, but there is also no argument to the contrary. The only thing to do is wait and see.

What is the contrary? That you can turn off seeing the skins of other players? Or what do you mean?

Regarding turning off skins: Most games with those types of multiplayer cosmetics do not allow you to turn them off on your end. The reason is simple, people want to show off their stuff whether you want to see it or not. In games with paid skins, that can be a major financial incentive for people buying them. Just a comment; not making any implication that Eternal will be all about MP skins etc.

A lot of games are also riddled with microtransactions and other revenue-enhancing schemes. So unless Hugo Martin was lying or being misquoted when he said "there's no paying [for] anything in the game" (penultimate paragraph), I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that Eternal will handle this kind of thing a bit differently.

From what I understand skins are either gotten through certain promos like the Twitch Prime thing, owning certain games (I think this is the case for the classic skins, if you own Doom or Doom 2), or the XP you earn while playing the game if you have a Slayers Club account or something like that. Maybe you do not need a Slayers Club account for all of them. Again, we do not know exactly, but also again, only 6 days left to find out more :)
