Looking into Advance Features - Need Help

As most of y'all have seen, I've been perfecting the Jazz Jackrabbit Doom TC for the past 2 years and counting.

I am close to finishing redesigning maps and enemy sprites. Now, my next goal to work on are features for the player and a custom item pickup.

 

I was given advice in the past but I know for sure I was not doing these features right. I'm comfortable with anything that involves editing, excepting for coding or scripting unfortunately. I am doing all I can to learn on my own but there are points when you need help.

 

Here's what I need assistance with:

 

• Custom Inventory Item - Rapid Fire Pickup:

This pickup will increase the fire rate for your weapons (max of 10 pickups to be exact) and the time will never expire unless the player dies... Then the fire rate will go back to the normal rate of fire on the weapons. (Hopefully that makes since)

 

I was told to use a "Sister Weapon" but every time I edited this feature, it will either give me an error when I loaded through GZDoom or it will load fine but never made any changes to what needed to be done. There was another way of doing this which involved tics but I don't have access at the moment to copy the coding at this time.

 

• Player Feature - Player Idle Animation -

To start off on this portion, I came across the Demonsteele mod where if the player is not active, animation will start playing.

Then and there I know it's possible to do so in my mod.

 

What I am planning on doing is when the player is not active for a moment, Jazz Jackrabbit will whip out a carrot, eats it and says,"What are you doing?"

 

I tried doing this myself but no idle animations happened, so I am at a loss at this point. If anyone can provide me examples or advice these features I mentioned, that will be very much appreciated and I will credit you. Thank you in advance.
