Bethesda or Steam?

I usually try to avoid new platforms but the price difference of the Deluxe Edition is about 30 €. Many Bethesda Launcher users complain about issues,  so I'm not sure whether I should wait for a Steam price drop or buy a cheap Bethesda key. What's your experience?

I'm annoyed that Doom Eternal costs around £50 at launch when I'm certain that Doom 2016 only cost £30 at launch. Was this to try to promote Bethesda.net as a cheaper alternative? If so, that sucks.

My pre-order was through gamestop, so it was bethesda launcher. Had to cancel my online one, they couldn't deliver thanks to covid-19.

No problems with bethesda at all, minus discord not detecting it.

Using the Bethesda launcher, and barring some slowness on Day 1 with it detecting my pre-order bonus content, it's been fine. And after a few rounds of playing, it detecting everything. Performance has been great, no huge problems on my end. Only thing I don't have is my Steam friend list, which is.... not terribly important at the moment of playing the game?

I got the Steam version because I really did not want to have to deal with Bethesda's launcher. It really fucking annoys me that every goddamn publisher is trying to push their own (double fuck you to Epic because of their exclusivity bullshit). I already have too many launchers because of obstinate pricks like EA forcing me to use Origin.

If you bought from Bethesda.net on launch day or before it, you got an unbloated and unobfuscated (~451MB of Denuvo processed virtual machine crap vs. ~66MB) DRM-free EXE file as a cool bonus! But they removed it in a patch now. :(

(as if it didn't end up all over the net already anyway)

I almost wonder if id Software did that "accidentally on purpose" until Bethesda discovered it and patched it out lol. I don't know how much either company controls or knows what goes out in the final release.
